some more parts off my dads old truck. He was asking me what they were worth. I said i dont really know much about them. He claims that someone offered him 300 for them and foolishly turned it down but i dont know. It came off a FE where i have been getting some parts from and the number i C1AE-xxxxx-G or C. I was wondering if anyone knows much about these so called "factory headers" or if they are worth using or what. being cast iron they will take much greater heat and that would be worth not frying my starter if they are good parts. Please let me know what you think about them. it is much appriciated.

Those are 390HP headers. I haven't followed them lately on eBay but they usually go for around $450 or so depending on condition. They will bolt nicely to those 16 bolt CJ heads. The driver's side will fit fine in the pickup but the passenger side frame rail lip will need to be notched for clearance.
So do these suckers make comparable gains as do headers? Being an expensive piece, are they worth using and are they hard to find? Thanks for the feedback
If I understand it correctly, they require modifcations in F Series trucks and will not work if you have the larger Bendix power steering unit like mine.
I would think the flow is somewhere between a long tube header and a shorty header. The best part of these cast units, would be the ability to seal if they still have a good surface.
If you're putting them on your '74, it has the Ford box so it shouldn't be a problem. I like them a lot, compared to headers they seal better, absorb the noise and heat and just look cool!
I have seen these on a 1964 galaxy, but had read an article that said they only came on 427's.
can someone give us a little history on what they were avaliable on? so when an FE freak like me is out scoping motor's I'll know what I'm looking at.
The shorty began life on the 352HP, were used on the 390HP/PI and 406. The long header began life on the 406 and was used on the 427. I didn't know the shorty was ever used on the 427.
i was thinking when i rebuild my motor that i would get these suckers sand blasted and spend the money to have them ceramic coated or something along the lines since they didnt cost me anything. Thanks for the info
