New (to me) Truck Mods

Hey guys and gals,

I have been buying up some mods for my new to me 2009 truck, and wanted to see what others have to say about them, if Im going in the right direction.

My goal is to make the truck as reliable as possible, and delete the dpf system.

I havent decided if I want to get an egr delete system yet as the tuner I have should be able to keep things in check there. But Im all ears if someone has an opinion on deleting the egr while towing and if the turbo would run too high of a psi for that or not.

Im not looking for huge power, I am looking for reliability, and decent mpgs. I will be towing my 5th wheel camper and boat, the total weight of both is maybe 11,000 lbs.

So the things I have right now, I have an S&B cai, Spartan tuner. I just bought a dpf delete pipe from ebay (120 bucks) and was planning on keeping my stock exhaust.

Is an exhaust upgrade really needed in these trucks to keep temps down, or do you guys think my stock exhaust will be ok? I dont really want to upgrade the exhaust, I dont mind how the stock one is pretty quiet.

I plan on running my truck in the 210 tow tune, and yeah, thats pretty much it. Only other upgrades I want to give this truck is a leveling kit, and thats pretty much it.

An upgraded exhaust can make a huge difference. Especially the Down Pipe the factory one is a double walled 3.5" pipe with a pretty good crimp in it. I calculated about a 30% decrease in air flow in that crimped portion.

Neat picture, would an upgraded exhaust just provide me with better egt's then? I mean Im not THAT interested in performance (I am to a point but Im fine with the stock exhaust and not spending 600 bucks to upgrade the exaust) but more in reliability, especially while towing our camper and boat.

A better flowing exhaust will lower EGT's. I don't recall the exact figures, but after deleting I would often hit my defuel limit of 1350. I then upgraded to a turbo back straight pipe system and now can't hit 1350 if I tried.
