So i have a stock 06 F350 CC 4X4 6.0 PS.. i am going to purchase an exhaust here soon and was wondering what everyone has and what works/sounds best (4 inch, 5 inch etc...). i am in alabama so there are no emmisions/smog laws. Here is a couple of options i was looking at. i tow a little, off road a little not really looking to drag race it or anyhting and i will probably do a small tune on it.
5" is a waste unless you plan on doing some pretty "big" performance mods. Also, just FYI, it doesn't matter if there is local emissions testing or not, you can still get cited for not having emissions equipment if it came on the truck from the factory. That is a misconception that you can't get cited if there is no testing. Doesn't mean that you will get cited, just that you still can.
Openexcess, thanks for starting this thread.... I'm going to jump in with you and ask a question....
First, I'm not much of a mods guy... I'm looking for longevity. I'm planning on a 4 inch aluminized turbo back exhaust to lower pressures and EGT. I priced an MRBP system and then heard some rumblings that MRBP exhaust systems aren't always the best quality. Any merit or has the local tech my buddies use corrupted them into his products at a higher price?

How much salt do they lay down there up your way during this time of year?
When choosing an exhaust, be mindful of that. Also al. exhausts can't handle as hot of temps as the SS ones can. Now granted, I don't think you are going to try to hit high EGTs on purpose, but those temps do climb quickly without you realizing it.

The MBRP is a great exhaust. Lots of people use it. 4" turbo back will give you some low end lag. I recommend going 3.5" downpipe to 4" out the back. You'll like the driveability much better and you'll still get the benefit of lowered EGT's.

All of the kits I've seen are 4" from the turbo back. how do you get one with a 3.5" downpipe? Is the stock DP a 3.5"? If it is, I guess you could just get a cat-back system and accomplish the same thing.
If a 4" or larger downpipe causes lag, what is the use of it? Is it only effective when the engine is highly modified?
So now the decision on 3.5 or 4' and is straight pipe really loud? i love the sound of the turbo i just dont want it to be annoying on long drives. im doing a cross country drive right when i get back from this deployment (June)
I vote for 4" and my straight pipe is only loud if I hammer on it. My tires are louder than the exhaust. Been on some long trips and never wished I had a muffler and kitty. My .02
I like the sound of that.. i cant wait to get back.. Alot of people here are tryiing to talk me into Stacks for the truck.. im kinda thinking about it.. what do you guys think?
I had removed both the kat and the muffler and have replaced the kat since. I ran it for about 1 1/2 years without and the drone finally got to me while pulling the RV..... Sounded GREAT tho.... I think my fuel mileage suffered as I was always kicking it down to listen to it. Still sounds good with the converter back on, just not as loud and can't hear the turbo whine as much either. But the drone is gone.
