a4ld torque problem
Hello every one 
. I am new to this site but have been a ford man all my life . Love working on fords .To tinker or repair them .
I have ran into a problem I cant figure out . I have a 94 explorer . The
reverse went out . I got another tranny from the bone yard . They took the torque coverter out . And I can not get it to go back in . Any help from any one

Well, for starters the unit you got out of the junkyard is well, junk.
You have to get everything lined up correctly. You should be installing a new torque converter. I myself have always opted to rebuild the old transmission.

help putting turque converter in
Thank you for you help . But I dont have $2 gs to rebuild the tranny .
I know this is a good tranny . The bone yard took the torque converter .out to put tranny in my truck . now I can not get the torque to drop in . Not even the first drop . What do you mean everything has to be lined up ?
There is a small shaft in side the big shaft . How far does the small shaft stick out from the big shaft ? Please people can a Little help with this .
If I was to rebuild this tranny and have this same problem .How would I
fix it . Any help ?

You have to push the torque converter on while rotating it. Just a little back and forth should do it until it gets to the pump drive, then you'll probably need to twist it a bit further. There should be three steps to it.

Yup, you have to rotate the torque converter until it fully engages and seats where it should, and as you push the engine and trans together, all the parts have to be perfectly aligned.
What makes you think your trans will cost $2000 to rebuild?
All you need is a valve body rebuild kit and a couple other parts, if you do it yourself, $500 is typical, $900 at most (if there is a lot of hard parts damage). When done correctly you get a trans thats better than new. A used trans is nowhere near new condition, you might get a year or two, assuming that it hasn't been improperly rebuilt previously.

torque converter problem
huh
got my torque converter in . The center shaft had a few burs on the
teeth . Would not let torque converter to slide on . Lightly filed the teeth.
converter side right on . All works perfectly . But now I have no reverse lights
Replaced the nutral safety switch . Checked bulbs . Checked grounds .
No reverse lights
I m lost . Might have to pay a few hundred to have a tranny shop look at it . Hell who needs reverse lights ?????????????

thanks Ford six . But what do you mean "check the adjustment on the switch" ? It just screws in to the transmission and you hook the wire up . How do you adjust it ???????
