F 350 drivers side power window problem

I was about to take a short trip into town with my wife and grandson. I had started my truck and was letting warm up while I waited on the wife to get her junk together. I had rolled the drivers window down while I waited and when we left she asked me to roll the window up. So I tried..nothing..pulled off in parking lot ..tried again..still nothing. First thought "fuse is gone", but never that lucky all the other windows worked just fine. So back home we went.

Heres where I start picking brains. When I started checking for the problem I turned on the ignition switch and when I pushed the power window switch for drivers window down..which the already stuck in down position but I heard a clicking noise in the dash..when I pushed up on switch nothing. I popped the window control panel off removed the plug bypassed the switch and got the same thing..clicking noise in dash when activating what would be down for window..nothing on up. Hooked power window plug back up and removed access panel to inside fuse box. Hit down again and could hear clicking clearer. I found it coming from #2 relay. When I pushed down on switch I could physically feel the relay clicking. I switch relays and window still doesn't work. Don't think it relay problem or switch..window motor or regulator, both or something else?

Check the wires where there enter the door.

Sounds like relay is energizing but is power going through it? On your window motor you should have two wires that have power depending on the "up" or "down" position of your switch. I don't know the wire color code but it should be simple. Using your meter test and see that you have power going to the motor when you push your switch. ( test up and down to get the working voltage) if you have your 12v going to the motor(may have to unplug the connector, your motor is bad if not unfortunately you have to find the break, check the door boot.
Sometimes smacking the motor will free them up. My son's would do the same thing. We kept it working for over a year( needed the hammer persuasion every once and a while) before we finally put a new one in.
Same problem, would go down, no up.
Good luck

I do auto glass for a living and I check things like this regularly. Take a 12v or 18v drill battery and use jumper wires to the window motor. If it works, then work backwards to the switch and relay. This is the easiest way I've found to troubleshoot these issues.

I have the same problem and am working my way backwards from the passenger window.

Does anyone have a pin out schematic for the door jamb connections? Specifically I'm after the 2009 F-350 Lariat Crew Cab Diesel.

Thanks

I had the exact problem. It always happens right when you don't need it! Mine was a quick fix.. Pulled all the connections at the door panel.. Cleaned them all,, plugged everything back in. To my amazement, works like a charm!
