Question Power window woes

The car is a '97 Taurus, here's the prob. Driver's side power window will work only sometimes, some days it will, some days it won't. I can hear the relay under the dash clicking, but the window does nothing. The window has been getting slower and slower in going up. Seems as if it heats up and has trouble working. Anybody able to lead me in the right direction with it? Relay? Switch? Motor?

You might check to see if the window is binding up in the tracks. I have seen that happen on a brand X. One of the tracks came loose and was putting pressure on the glass.

Another thing to check is broken wire in the door jam, they only can flex so many times. The break and then come to gether, and keep moving around until it finally falls away from the other half.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will check the wires. I also should mention, when it doesn't go down, there is no sound from the motor, just the click of the relay and of the window switch.

If I can hear the relay clicking, doesn't that mean the relay is working?

The click means that the coil is getting voltage. The contacts could still be bad.

the relay only supplies power, if the wire between the relay and the window motor , it will still click, and not operate the window.
