Really? I wonder why I thought that... I guess I'll have to research my "facts" again . Thanks for putting that straight, better than leaving wrong info around the place.

I have the crane 444232.

Wouldn't the computer thinking its a 302 be causing some of the problems?

I had it running on a hug2 computer when I first did the maf swap, and I don't remember having any issues with the automatic trans difference, but that was 3 or so years ago.

Why wouldn't it run any better with a 5.8 ECM?

In my way of thinking, the fact that the computer is thinking that it is 5.0 would screw the idle and running up, and with a 5.8 computer it should be able to compensate for the mods that are done to it no problem.
I understand that the computer runs the transmission shift points and that the idle speed is different between the manual and auto, but it still seems to me that it would run better than it is now.

I'm not trying to argue, just trying to understand.

If the different ECM won't help, what can I do?
I've pulled these codes with the chip out:

67-MLPS or Neutral Safety Switch

82-Either Air Diverter Solenoid or Integrated Relay Control Module - Not sure what that is

85- Either Canister Purge Solenoid (not hooked up) or "Adaptive fuel limit reached - lean"

10

33-EGR valve (blocked off)

I'm getting pretty frustrated at this point. I just want to be able to have a good running pickup that doesn't get terrible mileage, I don't exactly have aggressive mods done to it and I'm only getting 10 mpg highway(60-65mph, 32x11.5s), not too far off the norm but still should be better I would think. Sitting there idling I can smell fuel in the exhaust pretty strong.
