I'd pull the sensor from the body and clean it carefully, but thoroughly. I usually use Q-tips and either CRC MAF cleaner or rubbing alcohol.

Ok I'll try that then, I sprayed it pretty thoroughly with the crc cleaner, but left it in the housing

Has it always pinged with the MAF swap and the A9L or did it just recently start? I swapped to MAF on my truck using an A9L and it pinged from the start. I never could get it to stop so I swapped back to the original system.

I don't remember reading it, did you even checked if there were any codes? if the problem has been created by a malfunctioning sensor it should point it out.

So I pulled the codes, came up with 3.

15 - ROM test failure
85 - Canister purge
10
96 - Fuel pump secondary circuit fault / high speed fuel pump relay open

So this is the 2nd ECM that has popped the code 15, that means its toast doesn't it? What is causing it, its an A9L with a chip, first one was a HUG2 with the same chip. I had it reprogrammed for the new ECM.

Could the code 96 be causing my pinging?

Code 15 does not necessarily mean the PCM is bad. Can you elaborate what the "chip" is for? Is it custom burned or an off-the-shelf model? In either case I highly suggest you remove it then see if the detonation problem goes away.

Custom burned for the engine, pretty sure I'm not supposed to take it out and run it without it, seems like they told me not to do that, something about going back to default settings maybe.

Swap your plugs for the reg old stock motor craft plugs, non platinum. They seem to be the beat for these motors

"They" are correct and that is exactly what I am trying to do....get the truck back to running on default settings. The parts you listed on the engine are not that extreme that you could not take that chip out for testing purposes.
