Timing is everything.
It's been posted alot lately.
I reset the base timing today big bang no $$$. 12 degrees BTDC
Throttle response is now excellent.
I also installed MSD Blaster Coil.
It might actually burn a little less gas. lol. Yeah Right.!

Sounds good to me. Anything that we can do to get a little more mileage is great. I also have the MSD coil and am getting ready to put new plugs in this weekend and gap them to .055 since most seem to think that this will make a difference. I'll report back one day early next week with my results.
I coulda told you that, or I probably did... Any time that someone posts saying that their truck is sluggish, I always mention to check the timing. If it is too retarded, the truck will be a total stone, but when you bump the timing back up it wakes the truck up like a tankful of espresso. I'm glad that you found this out! It's nice, huh?
The thing that has to be taken into consideration is that engines, just like all of us, AGE! They get older, they get tired. Those valve springs and that timing chain that was tighter than an nun's...nevermind, will begin to relax over the years and so the base timing WILL eventually need to be looked at.
