My power door locks just started acting up. The driver's side switch will not do anything. The passenger's side switch will lock both doors, but it will not unlock them. Is this a switch issue or the actuator? I am assuming the issue is on the drivers side only and am leaning towards the drivers side switch. With that said, I read about a lot of issues with actuators on these truck which makes me think it may be the actuator? Would the doors still lock if the actuator was toast? If it would, why doesn't the driver's side switch work? Anyone have any info on this? I tried replacing the driver's side actuator but it made no difference. I also swapped the driver's and passenger's switches and it does the same thing. The passenger locks only and the driver does nothing. Thanks.
I would get a schematics of the locking system for you truck so that
you can eliminate the components like the actuators and wiring. Ford
has a love affair with the door lock switches so test first so you don't
spend more money than is needed.
Found a schematic, can anyone help me out with it? Still not sure where the problem could be. The only thing that works is the passenger side switch will lock both doors but will not unlock them. The drivers side does nothing.
Door lock switches aren't expensive, replace 'em. Or go search the Super Duty forum. I remember posts that showed how to rig 'em with some alum foil or something.

I would rather not spend $90 bucks just to find out I have a wiring issue... thanks anyway.
The passenger side seems like a switch issue since it will still perform one function.
The driver's one seems like it would be the switch, the connector or a wiring problem.
As the driver's lock switch gets used much more and the truck is 13 years old (at least), I would say that your switches are getting old. The contact points wear down over time from each operation.
I wil say that I am by no means certified in anything to with automobiles, trucks or diesels. I have, however, owned Ford trucks for over 12 years and done most of my own wrenching.
That being said, the driver's side lock and window switches gave out on my F-150 at about 10 years of age. Through an afternoon of troubleshooting I discovered that the switches were bad. I tried cleaning the contacts and "reconditioning" the switch but it was too worn. I found a suitable replacement at a junkyard and replaced it. My F-250 has the driver's side passenger window control intermittent (most up, sometimes down) and the truck is 11 years old (the passenger side controls it fine). When I get around to it (or it stops working) I will just replace the switch.
I am not saying this is your problem (again, I'm nothing but a shadetree mechanic with no training or certification), but it was with mine.
This problem on both the drivers and passengers side started at the same time. Both switches worked fine one day and the next the drivers would do nothing and the passenger side would only lock the doors.
I have a multimeter, I just don't know what to test. I think the problem is either the wiring or the drivers side switch. I just don't know how to test it.
I am hoping someone can look at the diagram above and see how the lock circut on the passenger side works and nothing else does...
