Right side door lock switch

I am installing power windows and locks in a 1990 F350. The donor truck was a 90 F250.

I got everything switched and all is working except the passenger side door lock switch.

The drivers side lock switch will unlock and lock both doors.

The passenger side will unlock the passenger and drivers side door but will not lock them.

I replaced the passenger side switch with a new one. Upon further checking, I found out that it was a window switch. It still unlocked the door but would not lock it.

Is there a difference between window power switches and door lock switches?

In the LMC book the power lock switches are $34 dollars and the window switches are $14. I paid $14 for the one I bought at ORiellys. Evidently the salesman thought I said power lock switch. They cannot get the lock switch.

I can ground a pinkw/ orange wire on the passenger side switch to the door frame and the switch will work. I have ohmed checked pretty much everything.

Could the drivers side power lock switch be bad. I have looked over a schematic and it looks like the circuit may pass threw the drivers switch to ground.

As I asked before is there a difference between a window and lock switch?

Thanks.

Since LMC lists the switches differently, we can assume they are different. But can the other one be made to work, maybe.

The Ford door locks are somewhat like the window motors. The door locks are actually little dc motors and move the locks mechanically. You are talking about "grounds" but actually the ground moves in this circuit. When you go to lock the door lock, ground is placed on one of the lock wires, and 12v on the other. When the door is unlocked, these wires are swapped, the ground is moved to the other wire on the lock that used to have 12v on it, and 12v goes on the other wire that used to have ground on it.

I don't know if this description will help you any in deciphering the diagrams and possibly finding out whats wrong with it.

drivers door switch

Windy and snowy in se nebraska. I switched the drivers side switch with the passenger side and the passenger side locked and unlocked both doors. The drivers side would only unlock the doors. So now I am thinking it is the switch.

I found a used one on ebay for $15. Figure I will try that.

Thanks.
