So i read up on resistor mods for my 1999 7.3. I wired in a switch with a 225 ohm resistor (im an industrial electrician and i spent 2 hours getting it to the perfect spot). Its just enough not to stall out when i flip the switch at idle, and it lopes awesome. Also it takes off like a rocket compared to stock. All i want to know is what all can possibly go wrong if i use it too much. My egts went from an average 800 to 1100 when really into it and my turbo can push 30psi with the waste-gate opening at 20. Its a stock motor but so far after 3 days of intermittent use its been great. Is there anything long term or short term i might be over looking and need to watch out for?
i thought all it did was increase fuel pressure. im not trying to be a smartass because i really dont know, but how is it different from a tuner?
No, what you do is trick the ICP sensor. This messes with all kinds of things. The end result is that everything in your motor is being worked harder.
A tuner is different in that it controls each variable differently and keeps things in check, the resistor just lies to the PCM and demands higher oil pressure.

ok thanks, ill see what i can do about getting a nice tuner then. as far as i know the motor is stock with 358000 miles on it. The tranny is built big time, as it was a pulling truck as i was told. im the second owner so i dont want to beat it up too bad, but the increase in power i got was incredible, i hope a tuner can compare to it.
Haha i got my first truck at 8 cause i live on a farm. This is my second 7.3 and i love it but now that i see how much power they can have, i think i might dump a little more into it
