10k Resistor mod. does it do anything

have a few resistors laying around and was thinking of adding one to the ICP sensor. which it what they are selling on ebay foe $30 but i have a few already laying here. does this actually have any positive effect on how the truck runs? I know i'm not going to get a 100 HSP gain or 30 MPG but does it in fact have any positive effect. will eventually put on a good tuner but figures would try this if it has a good effect.

Some guys liked to try it on the early years but it's generally not something you do to the 6.0, there's already enough pressure going through the injectors to begin with. If you're looking for cheap power a tuner is better

It does nothing good. You don't get any gains by just making it raise oil pressure in the rails.

I'm gonna end up going with a tuner. just figured if there was a gain with the resistor i would do that till i scrap enough together to buy a tuner. well, no sense in doing it since not gains are experienced.

I would think the pcm would adjust FPW with higher then normal ICP

this isn't something I would suggest

your right to use a tunner

The idea behind it is putting a resistor in line to the signal input to the PCM, in turn " tricks " it into thinking it needs to raise the pressure.

I also would not recommend it unless you want to create / find HPO leaks faster.

Im just wonder if the pcm is smart enough to correct high icp with a shorter fpw

Nope.
You would be taking the tool (sensor) that it uses to tell just how much
pressure it has in the rail and lying to the PCM about it. So the PCM will
put in what it thinks is X and act like it really is X when it's X+10K resistor
value. In other words you have a X+ factor and the PCM will never know.

It's like telling the wife that there is $500 in the checking account when there
really is 600 or 700 but you have "fixed" the register to show $500.

EDIT : Before all the wives bite my head off I know that your all smarter than the PCM and would not fall for that trick.

Does a properly running truck make more power at high rpm with the ICP disconnected?

I'm thinking rpm should go up If the PCM don't regulate it somewhere else down the line like rpm or ebp should both go up but how much idk

Maybe this resister isn't enough to upset things

RPM would not be affected. Oil rail pressure has nothing to do with maintaining idle.
