Fan how does it come off?

Fan how does it come off?
Me and my buddy are working on his 97 or 98 ranger doing an engine swap and it is taking us forever because of the fact he can't figure out how the fan comes off the water pump. He bought a special tool that was said to work for it and it doesn't. He even went through the hassle of putting the engine and trans in the bed of his pickup and going to napa with it and they can't figure it out. He is tempted to just take off the whole water pump to put this thing in but I told him maybe y'all know. Thanks for any help.

Put the big crowsfoot wrench on a 1/2" breaker bar. It fits outside the 4 bolts on the water pump pulley. Then put the longer wrench on the fan clutch nut and turn clockwise because the threads are left hand.

Soak the hell out of it before with your favorite solvent, some come off easy and others, like you mentioned, pull the whole pump off.

He ended up taking the pump off he said it will just give us even more clearance. Thanks for all the help y'all
