Jason! Welcome to FTE! Those gaskets look great. If Bruno ordered them tonite we might could have them Saturday. I'm trying to have things sorta ready so maybe between Sat and Sun afternoon we can get it going.
OK was considering just buying a new set of plugs instead of sandblasting the old ones. I will probably eventually blast them , but, not now. World products recommends:Spark Plug: 14mm 5/8" .460" reach tapered style, Accel 276 or 276S or equivalent. I believe the "S" designation is for short and would probably work best with the header application.
BPM6F converts to; 'B'=14mm, 'P'=projected electrode, 'M'=compact, 'nothing'=9.5mm/3/8" reach, '6'=heat range (of 2=hot -->11=cold), 'F'=tapered seat.
The 'R' variant is a resistor plug, for if you have copper plug wires like Packard 440 cable and electronics that would have interference.
Good info. Somewhere I have seen a chart that explains the Motorcraft numbering convention, but can't find it. I did find a cross-ref to ASF42C on one of those plugs and was trying to decode it.
I can get the 1270. 8 of them should be here Monday. Well at Advanced Auto for me to pick up. I like NGK as I stated above my favorite. Then probably Champion or Motorcraft. Bosch and Autolite fall at the bottom of the list.
Yes, if you need a .460 reach then using a shorter plug will shroud the tip so that the spark won't be as effective. And, if it is short enough to expose threads in the head you will have hot spots that contribute to detonation.
