Yet another cold start question

Hi guys,
I've done tons of reading on cold starts and cant seem to find anyone with my exact problem. Runs pretty rough until temps get to at least 130-140. If I do drive it before its 100% warm its really sluggish like the truck will lunge back and forth. Batteries are good, new oem oil filter and fuel filters, oil changed last week 15w40, FICM volts read great never below 48, so what gives. Glow plugs? I had a complete rebuild last year and all the injectors were replaced so I'm at a loss of where to check now. Also EOT and ECT are never 10 degrees apart.

You think switching to a 5w40 will make that big of a difference? I was also thinking of trying the rev-x but its so damn expensive.

How cold are you starting it with 15W40?

Even switching to 10w30 (especially the Rotalla T5 10w30) makes a world of difference.

Some guys have used and liked rev-x

40 degrees so it should be starting that ruff. I am using the Rotella T6 right now. Can I use a cleaner for the injectors or what?

Your first post says you changed the oil and used 15w40 and not T6 5w40.

Either way, 40 degrees isn't cold. You have injector issues.

Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought Rottella T6 came in different weights? Well I know I'm running a 15w40 right now so i will try a different weight. Does anybody have advice on oil additives or something I can try to make my truck run better? Thanks for the help

Rotella T is 15W40 or 10W30
Rotella T5 is available in 10W30 and 10W40 and our Canadian friends can get a T5 CG4 0W40

Rotella T6 is 5W40 and soon there will be a T6 CJ4 0W40

Some guys have had good results with HOT SHOT SECRET. It's available at Tractor Supply. Read and follow the directions, don't neglect to drain two qts of oil out of your crankcase. I must say your symptoms sound pretty severe. Most people who have been helped by this had a cold miss for under one or two minuets. If you do decided to use this product don't change you oil yet. Add it to your present oil and run it until yours next oil change. This might help it might not.

I got my injectors from Dynomate Diesel, a local shop in WA. I changed my oil last night to a 5W40 and had massive improvements this morning with a cold start. I could barely notice the problems before and the truck runs so smooth now. Still notice a baby amount of lunging when it was cold but barely noticeable. Think I'm going to try rev-x and see if that helps if not take it back to the shop.

Glad to hear the oil change helped, good thing about 5W40 is it can be run year round, even in sub zero temps.
