Question for Sean "wpnaes"

Can you tell me a little more about your add a leaf for the front leaf spring?

Why did you put three pieces, and how much higher was it with three pieces?

What did you do with the rear to compensate the 3 leafs in front?

Can it be one with two or one leaf?

Do you have more pictures of the installation?

If I like to raise the front 1/2" to 1" from the current V code (newly install ~10K miles), what is the best way to do it with?

My Excursion is 04 Eddie Bauer 6.0L Power Stroke.

Thanks,

Hey VQT,

The lift kit came in 3 pieces and a longer center bolt to attach them to the V leaf pack from TRX.

The lift was a hair under 2 inches. It came with longer U bolts.

Thus far, the rear suspension is stock, giving it the 'squat, overloaded look or as kids say here ' bro lean'.

I have a set of F350 rear springs that will go in when I get a 'round toit'.
But then it's not gonna fit in the garage any more.

I've never seen a smaller lift, but a 1 or 2 leaf lift could easily be fabricated and tied into the existing leaves with a longer center bolt.

Did you see the pics in this thread? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...y-turn-vs.html. Let me try to find more tonight.

The method above works fine to get the add'l lift. Another option some here have used:

Thanks for the PM.

You should also hit up WE3ZS. He added the top overload spring from the rear b-codes to his front spring pack to give him an added lift.

He talks a little about it in this thread.

New Excursion and want a mild lift. Questions - Page 2 - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

He added it to his X-codes but should work the same for your V-codes.

Re-read Tom thread about X code with top over load B. I didn't buy the B code with top over load.

Need to re-read all posts about mild lift again

Perhaps you could post to see if anyone has theirs left over as many have gotten the springs that require that to be remove in order to install the b-codes.

Sean,

What was/is the height before and after this installation? I know your is V10 and mine is 6.0L so your will be a little higher the 6.0L.

The V code I installed a few months ago still at ~2" higher than original.

Thanks,

Late to the party!

VQT, I did my X code spring mod as an experiment to increase ride height and spring rate, I wasn't sure how I would like it as I had never tried the stock X codes first. Now that is done I will be keeping the mod, I really like the firm but not harsh ride, feels like a truck! The B overloads I used gave me about another inch over what all of my notes say the X's should give a V-10. If you are looking for the extra lift as well as a stiffer spring pack then an overload spring leaf should be what you want. If you are happy with the ride and rate of your new V codes and are only looking for that little bit extra lift then I would look at a leveling kit like Sean's, you should be able to remove a few sections to get the amount of lift you want. You'll just have to get a properly sized center bolt and maybe U-bolts, maybe not....depends how much threaded area they have, you can trim off any excess length after you have then installed. My EX rides with a good deal of rake when running solo and I am contemplating making up a mini level pack to add to the front to help take away some of that rake. I am thinking about cutting my old stock EX front springs down to short sections like Sean's pack, only with two sections per side, maybe worth another inch or so. I already have a set of new longer U-bolts and the old springs so it will only cost me some time, and I'm goint to be swapping out front axle housings soon so it will be just another step while I'm in there.
I hope this helps some.

Thanks Tom,

I threw away all the old Ex springs excepted the bottom leafs of the original Ex rear. I remember reading someone used the bottom leaf of the Ex, cut it to lenght and use it like sean has for the front springs. I thought it was sean, turn out sean bought a kit.

I like the ride of the V now, and maybe the X code give an extra lift that I like to have as oppose to the V. Since money already spent on the V, I just contemplate on how to get the front up just a hair more. Couple of extra cut up rear leaf might be the ticket, Just need to find someone who can cut the leaf. Currently the rear has Mod B and 3.5" taper blocks, it has a rake that Stewart said I'll be like the Bee Stink driving down the road. I like the current rear height so just looking to lift the front a little more. I could take the 3.5" rear blocks out and put back the 2.25" original Ex rear blocks, and I don't want to go lower yet
