Took Stewart's advice and used no power tools. That's just my sore muscles aching after doing a 1/2 V swap. Got some V's on CL for $15 each and started attacking. All I can say is they come out easier than they go in. I put back the 2.5'' levelling kit that was there before and gained another 1.75'' so far. Likely they'll settle to 1.5''. My Brother in Law showed up like a blister (that's code for after the work's all done) to help.
LOL! I have never advised anyone not to use power tools. All I've ever said was I didn't use them and I didn't have any problems getting everything off!
Having two floor jacks really helped position the springs though. At least it did for me.
I put some heat from a plumbers torch on the nuts on the front spring eye bolts to soften up the factory thread lock compound, after that those bolts spun out real easy (with my electric impact).
I had to do everything on the rears by hand due to the giant size of my impact, it was a lot less fun back there......
I have always liked the way your X looked in your avatar, but had assumed you had more lift that 2". Prior to the recent upgrade had you done anything to lift the rear? Also, how well did the 315/75 16's work on the stock wheels with only 2" of lift. I need new rubber and this is exactly the setup I am leaning toward. I am looking to increase the height a bit and step up to a tire that will perform better off-road, but I also want to keep it low enough that I can still fit in my garage.

Thanks Dustin, The front had stock springs with a 2.5'' level lift that you can see in the pics. The rear end is all stock. 315's fit perfectly in back and have given me a touch of rub in the front at full lock. It doesn't bother me to rub the front leaf spring (just the back half of the spring; there's a pic of that rub in my garage pic folder). I haven't had any issues with 315 tire wear on the stock rim (other than what was caused by the tired tie rods, shocks, etc). I found a cheap set of wider (9''?) aluminum rims on CL that will go on the next set of 315's I buy.

Good point, yes the bumper and winch brought it down 3/8-1/2 inch easily. The week I ran around with the woody front bumper, it was noticably lighter in front, but I didn't notice the tire rub...
Got out the tape measure and the level kit is only 1 7/8'' tall. Picture of putting them on the V leaves. Will do a bit more driving tomorrow to better assess.
