If the tune writer knows you have stock head bolts, they usually keep that in mind in regards to max boost etc.

If the boost is kept under 25 psi and you are dumb enough to load a high performance tune and then tow 10,000 pounds up a mountain, you'll be fine.

The red truck has sct tunes n it's very violent while turning off the cruise also. It actually sux. I would have to give it throttle, then touch the brake to disengage it. If traffic didn't allow to throttle it first,,, Clunk.

My edge on all 5 stages, disengages smooth btw.

I guess I'm not really past the toy period either,,, lol

Well I was out of the freeway and took it off with the brake a few times and nothing extreme.I did not try turning the CC off
with the switch I for to. I got a good puff of light smoke when I romped on it at about 15 MPH and poped up over 45
before I could get my foot back out of it. Also when I got home I did a wot sort like the smog people do. No smoke at all.
Parked and 3 romps on the peddle.
I think I won't have a hard time relearning to keep my foot out of it. I really like the way it responds to any input. I don't
think I can ever go back. I have not given the canned tunes a try. And I did not get to talk to Matt when I placed my order.
Maybe he will stop in and fill us in.
I was watching my instantaneous MPG on the freeway and it seemed like it was higher then it was in the past so
long as I did not push the peddle too far and on CC it did really well.
How much of the added get up and go can be blamed on the EGR being 0? I don't know. Also do the canned tunes turn it off also?

Bryan I was not taking with Matt it was the person that worked in the office side or the operations. BTW he was very easy to
work with and over all it was one of the better phone orders I have done in some time.He even called back to double check that
I did not have studs because the two orders got a bit mixed up on his workbook. I like the fact that he made sure and did not guess.
Over all I will give them an A++.

Monday I will be filling up and checking what I am getting for milage and let everyone know.

Sean

I have the Atlas 40 and a Powermax. I can say it doesn't smoke. And I don't notice any harshness turning off the cruise control.

The Powermax was very laggy with out the tune. Now it spools up quick.

Eager to hook up the trailer later this year and run the tow tunes. See if the Powermax works better in the mountains.

Atlas 40 isn't a high horsepower tune compared to the SRL and Looney

I'm really thinking about going with Eric's tune. He is saying that since a person has a tuned FICM (I have the Atlas 40) He can write a roll back tune. It can be an older flash for my 04 that was better than the one the truck received back in the day. Current flash is vxbc9nb. Power Hungry Performance says that was one of the worst for the 04's.
I should have mentioned, like in my other post, I'm running the SRL for Powermax from Matt.

No hard shifting out of cruise and no smoke.

But the Looney is a kick in the pants for sure.

Is the SRL as violent when turning off cruise control as the Looney?

The canned SCT tunes give a slight clunk when turning CC off, but certainly not the hard jerk (lol) that Looney does.

All stock and turning off CC (or pressing the brake pedal for that matter) is a smooth process.

Josh
This might have been true a year ago. Matt fixed that issue in all of the tunes and cruise disengages like a factory truck. If anyone is having issues with a harsh disengagement send me an email (sales@gearheadautomotiveperformance.com) with your strategy and sct serial number and we can get the issue fixed for you.

As far as FICM tuning goes, with the more aggressive ECM tuning there is no need for the larger FICM tunes. Bill's Economy tune or Eric's mild tune seem to be all you need. Comparing those to the larger FICM tunes all we have noticed is a little more smoke on the bottom end and higher EGT's on some of the 80 or 100 horse FICM tunes.

That's good news about the CC disengagement being fixed. I know many had complained about that, not only with the SRL but also Vivian's Looney Tune

Well that sounds good they have the CCONTROL figured out

Little nervous about a used runner I wouldn't want to have to send in to get it unlocked

The price was good though

I ran the canned sct tunes for a bit and I can tell you upgrading from them, Egr already shut off, to Matt's srl+ made a world of difference! My Sig has the info.
The power is awesome and smooth and I haven't had any issue with cruise control (other than hating its guts cause any time your speed drops it over compensates, spools hard then resumes cruising) I never use cruise control on my engine the turbo don't agree.
As for smoke I haze wot at full boost and if I floor it from a stop I will smoke heavily until boost builds, which is fine by me I don't mind occasional coal with consideration. After that watch out!
I have caught several tuners and the occasional muscle car off guard with how fast my 8,000lb+ beast launches.
Transmission also feels better.

Only issue I've really had is when driving 2wd uphill through the mountains in a snow storm my engine decided to drop a gear hammer the rpms from 1300 to 2200 and I spun right out. This tune does like to drive like a racecar and can catch you off guard.

Well I filled up today and thought that the play time I have been having would of cost
me in the MPG department. Well it didn't. I have been seeing in the last few weeks
about 14.5 MPG and today I got a nice 15.2 MPG and I had started with 1/2 of the
tank already used before I put the tune in. I am still adjusting to the throttle response
because it's a bit faster now and changing lanes and pushing the peddle down
almost got me tonight and it's good thing the brake is close by.
On the MPGs I know more after I get a full tank through and check it.

All in all I really like the SRL tune from Matt.
