I'm getting the idea that this dealer of yours is not really helping you out. I sold my 96 7.3 F-350 that had all kinds of body damage last year for $6000 along with my '02 Honda VTX 1800 and used the money to buy my 6.0 for 12,000.
I agree with Creator. I think that this dealer is trying to help himself
and does not give a damm about you.. Even if you do fix the truck I would say
it's time to find a new dealer for future possibilities.
Wait till the mechanics get the other testing done that the other post recommended
that you do before you pull the sheet over it. Because it sounds like you have a
bunch of empty you wallet and spend YOUR MONEY guys around you right now. Keep talking with the people at the 6.0 forum and see what
you can do to save the engine and money at the same time.
Well I have decided I will see what the dealer has to offer as far as a trade in ,But I think I am going to just hang on to my 03 CCSD and build it my self after I find out the trouble for sure.
And just buy another nice new truck and use it for work for a few month's till I get my old war pony fixed the 03,Then leave the new one at home in the driveway.
Give my 03 APR stud's,egr delete,bigger injectors,tuner,3" open exhaust
and just let them ponies run.
See you around run6.0run if you show up here we can hit the lake and do some fishing.
A guy I know (hauls my drinking water to the farm) Up here in Alberta, had to replace many injectors in his 03, until he eventually replaced the whole 6L. This was roughly 4 years ago, but a fully dressed drop in engine up here costs $14,000. plus installation. May not matter to you that much but I also have priced engines for my previous trucks. $15-16k +/- is not unreasonable. may be ridiculous to pay that, but thats what they cost from ford...
Days away: I'm sure you're up to your elbows (likely further than that) tearing into you rig. But when things settle down a bit, I'd be interested in hearing the situation under which your truck encountered problems. Did it all happen at once, or was it a gradual thing (over a few miles, or even a few days/weeks?). Anyway, good luck and safe travels back to N.D. when your times comes.
