Coming home from North Dakota tuesday night I had a break down with my 2003 F-250 super duty well a long story short,
The shop here at home says I don't have any compresion in two cylinders and had fuel getting in to my oil.Well
I priced a new engine from the and was told
$15,927.30 for a new 6.0L installed with 2 year unlimited milage
this seems high or is it
PLEASE LET ME KNOW
If you can afford some down time on the truck..... we just had a guy who did a complete removal, tear down and rebuild on a 6.0L and his transmission in his driveway, he couldn't even get the truck into the garage with room to work on it. If you're doing a long block it would be even less work than he did. If you want to challenge yourself, I'm fairly confident anyone can come in under $15k in cash outlay. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...oval-pics.html
Dude that is about the price if you buy it from the dealership......There are literally warranty reman motors out there for less than half of that. I wouldn't pay more than 8-9k for a good reman motor with labor. 16k is waaaay out of the wheelhouse in my opinion.
Blackwater Engines - Remanufactured - Remanufactured 6.0L PowerStroke Long Block Engine - 03-07 Ford Powerstroke 6.0L
I think I could build a 6.0L out of parts bought across the counter at a dealer for $13k. It would take a lot of parts, HPOP, injectors, turbo, computer modules, radiator/intercooler, both coolers, studs, just a whole pile of things to boost the cost $7 grand over a reman'd long block. What exactly is part of this replacement they're selling you? If it's all there, maybe, but if they're reusing anything from the old motor I'd be leary.
It is at the ford dealership in Richfield,Utah an I used to do alot of mechanic work still do on boats but at 48 years old I am not interested in working on my truck and have'nt been in a few years.
For the 16,000.00 I told then I want new everything and I mean everything
Turbo down to the oil pan.
I don't mind the money as long as it is worth it,the truck is my work truck I am a driller in the oil and gas field's of america and my truck has to be dependable.

I am thinking if I am dropping that kind of money-going with something like the Blackwater reman and adding some toys to it the- ARP head stud's and going with there performance package with a new turbo and work my exhaust over they offer a comparable warrenty 2yr 50000 mile where the ford house is 2yr unlimited milage ???????????
hey if you are willing to pay to play, and it is all brand new OEM ford components than it is a no brainer. You will have basically a brand new truck
No, he will have a brand new engine, hopefully(!) assembled and installed correctly. The rest of his truck is still what it is, all 180k work miles of it. He could trade in the truck as-is (take it to Carmax if you want), take the $16k he would've shelled out, and have a helluva down payment on any *actual* new truck on the lot, diesel or gas. If you like the 6.0L you'll love the 6.7L...
I would have a second opinion first off. At 15k I'd sell the current truck take the proceeds and 15k and buy a newer lower mile truck or a brand new one. I personally think 15 k for a motor is un reasonable especially for a stock replacement. Drop that coin on the engine and then the tranny takes a dump. Then 3k later you have over 18k+ original purchase price in a 10yr old truck with 200k miles.
