V cod springs

There is a guy selling a bunch of new V code springs in my area for 400 bucks. I have heard of X codes and thought they were the best for heavy duty work. I assume that V codes are a little less stiff then the X codes.I plow in the winter(when/if we ever get snow), my stock springs have started to sag and I am wondering if these would be worth it for me to pick up. $400seems high to me, but I don't know...

As I recall the V code is for 4X4 trucks, X code is for trucks with snow plow package. And $400 is too much IMHO. See here.

That is not a Ford X code spring. Please do not go by the claim of ANY aftermarket company saying they sell a Ford coded spring. Compare the aftermarket specs to Ford's actual spring specs first. We are constantly helping and correcting spring info in the Excursion forum because swapping in F250 springs onto an Ex is a common (almost a "must") modification.

Tousley Ford has V code springs for $129.58 each.

Ford Parts - Tousley Ford Parts Depot

If the CL ad wants $400 for all six springs, that's a deal.

But are V's softer than X's Stewart?

Yes, but they are an excellent spring. Just not as "strong" for plows and such over the long haul.

V codes are 5200/pair, 2600lbs per spring.
W codes are 5600/pair, 2800lbs per spring.
X codes are 6000/pair, 3000lbs per spring.

What springs do you have on your truck now?

I have one, but the printing on it is really blurry for some reason.
