Front Leaf Spring Chaos

I have a 2000 F250 Crew Cab 4X4,7.3.My leaf springs are code U springs.I am putting a plow on it,so I searched the salvage yard website, and found a pair of code X springs(so they said)I put them on the truck and gained about 5/8 of an inch(what a waste of time). How do you know what springs you actually have.Is there a website where you can put in the part number, and it tells you what they are? Thanks in advance for any help,I will be out in my garage with my head in the vise.

spring upgrade

hey Walt when I bought my 250 the previous owner said he had the springs upgraded at a local shop that specializes in just that sort of job. He also told me the springs were now at a 1 ton rating and the truck had gianed about 2 inches of lift with the job. So my question is how will I know if I am able to install a plow? I have purchased a Myer power angle with a 8.5 ft blade used so I hope you can help me figure this out.

I have no experience with plows so I cant really help you. If you have more than 2 leaves up front than the PO had some spring work done.

Here is a link from Myer's site, you can input your model number and perhaps get some installation instructions
