Yup water temps.

If this helps, I did use a IR gun to verify what my gauge was reading. Water pump and rad hose read 200+ degrees.

The torque is from the small diameter headers and the scavenging effect on the next cylinder to fire. You have good flow velocity with the cutouts closed as the headers expect the downstream system to be there. But with them open it must upset the flow characteristics.

Edit: You must not have run it with them open last Wednesday. I was at Intercourse and at the outlet mall walking around and didn't hear you.

Even with them closed you probably couldn't miss the guy chocking a wheel of his stripped down, half primered ford, with a wood 6x6, while bent over the fender, fiddling with the trans to get it in gear. It's a sight

I think I'm glad I missed that sight. Boy, the outlet mall has fallen on hard times.

Haha you are right. And really? It's been about 5 years since I've been there but last time it was doing real well. Times have changed that's for sure.

When we moved from DE, about 10 years ago, there was a big Black & Decker store on the west end. Since then they opened an additional one in the old Sony store on the east end, but now both have closed. So, both Sony and B&D are gone, as are many others. I went into another store and talked to a guy there who said that many of the store owners have run into problems with the owner of the property and have decided to close rather than to do business with him.

Looks good, Jake. And that horn pad is a good looking one. Good find.

Today I started looking at my trans and cleaned it up. First i bolted the trans to a engine stand, which worked out really well. Being able to spin it with ease was nice. Pulled the PTO cover off and saw no chipped gears, and overall looked good. Bolted the cover back down and took it outside. Cranked up the pressure washer on steam and gave the trans a nice acid wash down. Brought it back in and primed it under the heat lamp. Painted it not too long after. Pretty good day overall. Got our shipment of stake body trucks, and vans in too.

Also found my overheating issue. Whenever I ran with mufflers, the idle speed dropped a little. Turns out it was way too slow. Idled at 450 rpms which wouldn't let the water pump circulate enough water or the fan cool the rad down.

No doubt, Gary. I was pretty tickled to find that! Ain't 100% perfect, but just about the best you'll find in a yard.

The tranny looks great, and the horn pad is lots better than what I have.

Most of the ones I've seen were just beat to hell. Including the one that was on my truck before. Hopefully my cruise actually works, since I had missing buttons before. I honestly never used cruise before, but it's nice having it. But, I have to find the cruise linkage bracket from a Crown Vic or Grand Marquise for my setup to work

Cruise is "nice to have" until you drive from here to there, meaning from where I sit to where you sit. Trust me, that is a loooooong way and cruise becomes a necessity - especially when you had knee surgery 4 weeks previous to the trip.

Oh I bet! That's why I wanna keep it. Sure I'm young and think I can handle it anything, but there's gonna be a time I use it haha.

So today I'm on a quest to fully decode the casting number on my block. Searched and searched and cannot find anything pertaining to the last parts of my number set.

Casting number is: F0AE-6015-AA-14

So far I've gotten this out of it:

F- 90's decade
0- Year of 1990
A- Generic Full-Size Ford
E- Engine

6015- Engine Base Assembly(351W)

The characters and numbers XXXX-XXXX-AA-14 have led me nowhere at all. Any of y'all have any ideas? And by the 'Generic Fullsize Ford' meaning, do they mean really any of the big boats Ford had during the time? Thanks for anything y'all come up with.
