Now that you say, yes you are right. I remember seeing those in the yard now. I guess I'll pick up a pair of 'em next time I'm there and see what I'm able to do with it, I'll still look if they're a direct fit (doubt it) but I'll be able to modify them to work. Thanks too!
No, I haven't forgotten about you guys by the way. Been waiting on parts STILL. Went to the yard today but I ran out of time when I was pulling a bell housing out. I checked every Ford there and not one had a ZF-5, all the Mazda trannys there. Got some pretty damn good pieces there though today. Bezels are beautiful Also, there were 2 stepside/flaresides there but were real rough. One 80's flareside bed was on a 73 F-100 which i snagged the shifter from. I'll throw some pics up tomorow of junkyard goodies and junk I've been working on lately. Night y'all.
Here's a couple things i grabbed while I was there. I still can't believe the shape of the bezels I found. A silver or aluminum colored marker makes those edges look new again!
You are right - those bezels are beautiful. They are exactly like the ones on Dad's truck, but I wish his were that good.
I was thoroughly suprised when i saw 'em. Just had to switch the labels on the indication lights around to match how mine are. I don't know if that was a Bronco thing, warning lights being in a different order and size or a 80-81 thing. Anyone could shed light on this?
hey jake, I really like what you have going so far with your F-150, that is one of the years where the style side looks the best. The fog lights behind the grill is an awesome idea too, how did you fasten those lights back there?
If you are desperate for a manual trans there are a lot of 4spd trannys out there are that are really tough. And the M5OD gets a bad rap because a lot of people beat on them but there are a lot out there that have gone through hell and back and still work. I know they arent ideal for behind a 351 but it would get you up and running for a bit till you can find what your looking for. You would just have to be smart about not burning the tires off and such.

I'm not desperate for a manual trans at all, I'm desperate for Np-435 bell housing. I might have that covered this weekend with another trip to the yard. I know the 435's aren't a popular swap choice because of the granny gear, but tough they are. And that's what I'm after. I honestly don't wanna have to baby a trans after I take the time to swap it. I like my stuff to be bullet proof. I usally don't abuse my rig, but when it comes down to it my foot doesn't care. I'm just running the C6 till I have everything I need for the swap and then I'll do it. I got the access cover off the floor board and I'm shifting the C6 with a vice grip attached to the linkage. And anyway, if I don't like the 435, I'll just do a zf5 swap. Not a big deal.
What are you using for insulation on the hood? Did you do it for noise suppression or what was your goal?
I'm using the underhood insulation from LMC. Not only using that stuff for my hood, but for my doors also. The sheet you get from LMC is quite big and that was a factor. Also I really can't explain otherwards, I just did it. Made sense to me at the time

So what's the benefit to using under hood insulation? Is it primarily to keep out noise, or to keep heat off of the hood so your paint doesn't peel or anything like that?
I just now got to where the bezels would show up in your post. They look great! I still like the way my old waffle-weave plastic bezels look in Flat Black though.
Where are the pony emblems going to go? One above each tail light where the "EXPLORER" was on some trucks would look good.
