Did a little prep work today for when I paint my block. Lifted the motor up a bit to drop the oil pan today. I'll paint the pan while it's out, but the main reason I dropped it was that someone put so much RTV sealent on the pan, bits of it comes out when I change the oil. Wasn't too hateful to do at all.
Then, got the pressure washer cranked up, and blew all the oil and debris off the motor and surrounding areas. While I was waiting for the burner to heat the water up, I just shot the gun out the garage door. 5 mins later, the water turned to ice. With the windchill it's -3 degrees out, too cold for me! But anyway, the motor cleaned up really well. Brake cleaner cuts grease good before you blast it with water. At first I was hesitant about pressure washing a open block but after doing it, there's nothing to be afraid of. Just turn the crank over twice when you're done.
Put my heads on today. Finally taking shape. Unfortunantly, the intake manifold I have is for a 302 not a 351. Excited to see how much power she'll put out in the end.
Got some things done today. Mostly, I'm waiting on parts for the motor to get it back running. But, I assembled some parts of the motor. I didn't put everything back together because it's easier to put some parts on when theres nothing in your way. Anyway, painted the door jams completely and glossed 'em. I'll write more later, too tired to even think. If you have any questions just ask guys!

Alright guys heres for another round.
In the door jams the finish turned out great considering its a rattle can job! Got my paint I'll be using put into a couple spray cans at my local Colours. It's just alot easier shooting it with a can then masking the whole area off, and shooting it with my gun. Prep work is key for a good finish, and here it shows. Add clear over it, and it sure shines!
As for the motor, it's almost done. Rebuilt the top end, bottom end is pretty strong though. And painted the block. First block I ever painted and I guess it came out good. Put everything under a heat lamp while painting. Gotta do my oil pan gasket tomorow, btw get the one piece gasket set. I had the 4 piece and just about had it done only to realize it was for a 302.
Drivers side door painted and cleared. The clear really brings out the shine!
Best way to bring out raised letters or raised trim is a felt tip paint pen! Used this to retrim my dash bezels and turned out good. Also when I painted the top of the washer fluid box trim black, I painted my fender covers trim black. POR-15-ed the chassis under the motor and surrounding area.
I think you have a stick shift right? My experience was line locking was a no no. Had a 68 c10 chevy i would line lock for giggles. Til i melted the clutch disc to the fly wheel. Had to crank it over with it bumping across a parking lot til it broke loose.

Haha no, I wish I did though! C6 Auto. Have a shift kit I'll be putting on it soon though. And yeah I know, only way to learn is the hard way.
