I do extended oil drain intervals, using bypass filtration, and it adds up to 15,000 miles between changes. That optimum has been determined by years of lab tests on my motor.
During an oil change interval (OCI), I go through about 16 quarts of oil, one full-flow filter, three bypass filters, and three lab tests.
I figure that the costs involved (over just dumping the oil and filter every three-to-five thousand miles) is about a "wash", but I end up with a LOT more information about the health of my engine for the money spent.
There are other labs that are cheaper, especially if you buy a pre-paid amount of them in advance, but I went with the popularity of Blackstone. Besides, they are a sponsor of FTE's 7.3 forum, and that means at least something!
Afternoon guys! Had a great day today. Watched a great race, and finished Nakayla's pickup. She is a great kid and loves to work on her truck "Rodney"...........................lol
