I like the atmosphere at NDB&G so we'll be back, but if it goes any further, we may have to re-think things. Oh yes, their clam chowder went from thick and creamy to kind of watery and thin. Hoping it was just a bad night. I've been having a few of those lately.
We went tonight and it was very good. Yep, the prices went up a bit but not terrible. Must have just been an off night for them.
What a beautiful couple of days we've been having... It almost makes Wednesdays downpour worth it. Almost!
I've been in recovery mode for the last few days... Since I worked outside a couple of days I'm feeling sore... Especially since I had a ton of manual labor to do.

I work for Clackamas County in the Engineering Department... Thank God I'm not an "engineer" though. I'm a Land Surveyor.
We are getting ready for our summer push to repair some roads. About 65 miles of paving, if they can find the money.
One of the roads needed to be surveyed before they destroy all of the previous survey marks. The road is in such disrepair the cost of filling all of the potholes is more $ per mile than fixing the entire road. So we are out there digging more holes in the pavement with a jackhammer "installing" even more potholes.
Belated good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Good afternoon to everyone east of morning.

Quite a few years ago our county decided they were going to rebuild the bridge over the creek. They came out and surveyed, made their marks and layed out the new bridge approaches. Then they started building the new bridge just to the west of the old bridge. When all was said and done we had a beautifull country bridge - still do. Problem was they "missed". They had to come out and recut the road bed and put a big curve in the road to get it to allign with the new bridge. Ended up with 20 to 30 feet from the edge of the road to the mail box and utility poles. It got so interesting that my grandmother took a chair out and sat in it with the shotgun to keep them from taking excessive amounts of ground out of our garden and pasture. Plus she made them put the roadway for the tractor back in under the bridge.
Road crew called the SO and the sheriff himself showed up. His words to the county crew, "I suggest you leave her garden alone!" and then he left. Everyone still gets a laugh when we talk about grandma, her chair and the shotgunl, (which I still have).

Sounds like the previous mgr (and I use that term soley in a descriptive term since it is obvious management did not take place) has been letting people live there rent free for last couple of years. Probably gonna be nearly impossible to collect 11K in back rent. Hope you own stock in Bayer!
Morning Jim. At least I'm just management and not a partner in this mess.......
I'll get it fixed, just gonna take a month or so. I've got to go to court and give them a 30 day eviction notice first. Rentals are scarce around here, and I'll have no problem renting them. The are all remodeled and are very nice homes. The most expensive one is only $675/month. For a remodeled 3 bedroom with a fireplace!

Oh the stories I could tell about what it takes to put in a bridge. The environmental issues are a nightmare! It's an alphabet soup of Federal and State agencies telling folks how things should be done.
A lot of folks don't understand why things take so long. When the actual construction starts the project has probably been in the planning and design phase for 5 or more years.
It's really all quite sad... However someone has to protect the resources that are left (endangered species, wetlands, etc.).
Good luck with all that. I dealt a little bit with some of this a few years ago helping a sick friend out and all I can say is....................never again. Well, I think it will be never again..........................

When this bridge got put in, I don't think they had a lot of DEQ etc to worry about. Survey crew this week, material dump next week and a bridge the week after. They left a long plank that I could use to "pole" push my way up and down the creek, as long as I had it back in time for the work crews to use the next day. Foreman had a crawdad trap in the creek and we had lunch almost everyday. Things just can't be done that way anymore.
