A less enjoyable driving experience...

so i had to pull the cheesy hypertech power programmer 3 stage 3 toon back off Motorbug's pcm. was finished working on the truck it belonged to and ready to be picked up. having the toon on Motorbug in the first place was just to test the toon... and make sure it was not causing the issues i was dealing with on other truck.

with the toon... i was getting 18-19mpg hand calculated running mostly 70mph empty(except for about 1klbs of tools where back seat used to be)

with the toon on my totally stock turbo i was seeing 31psi boost.

now im back to 20psi max if i flip my 10k switch during a wot run. my speedo crawls up like a drunken slug.

egt's are a little cooler with the stock program... max out at 900* all the way up the speedo during wot run.

the change bucket's next cash in will be for a hydra dang it.

Ah... I see your boost leaks stayed away. Wasn't that a rush?

yah brother...
kept expecting that shotgun blast boot blow off... but ended up nibbling on my earlobes with the corners of my lips...

while pulling the 5er i did experience surge.
it was unsettling to say the least. strange tho... it would flutter between 15-18psi or so... but if i floored it, the surge quit and boost smoothed out around 25psi.

i think i may have caused that tho with the 2 choke points i created in the intake with my makeshift constructed 6637 adapter and ccv adapter.
need to pick up some exhaust tubing and be done with it. im hoping that fixes it... but if not... just a good excuse to order a ww ver. 2 eh?

bill seems to like it... thats good enough for me. i was really not liking the idea of a 38r being non rebuildable... hopefully this new wheel lives up to all the expectations.

gotta get a chip as the next mod tho... now that i tasted the candy... the broccoli just wont do.

Give your opinion of the hypertech (the too much caffine version).

the motor ran smoother... hella acceleration. idle was a little bit quieter.
shifts from 2-3 and 3-4 were way to aggressive. jarring almost. i really didnt like that.
i enjoyed the extra power in overdrive.

once i hooked up to the 5er... was very happy with the getty up... but mpg's fell thru the floor. went from 18 to 8.

with all things considered... i recommended to the owner that he not use it on his gorgeous truck. i informed him about the real options available to him as far as chipping.
he seemed really interested in getting the hydra. i asked him to run in stock for a while just to ensure everything stays happy. he agreed and said he would bring her back to me for any further work/mods. his truck is currently bone stock mod naked. 265k 2000 f250. no up pipe leaks. no apparent boost leaks. sewing machine smooth. gobs of go with stock tune.

Now Chris, you have a taste of the fun stuff. I am running the diablo and have been for about 122k. Have enjoyed it, but will be looking at the Hydra or the DP in the future. Just need to get the truck right first. I will be leaving Victoria in about an hour heading home. If you want you can bring the stuff to the house later this afternoon.
