Lately I've been having an issue where my truck will make a noise that sounds like the Turbo is releasing boost pressure. As soon as this happens the RPMs on the truck drop to about 1100 and it shakes. The shaking continues until I get the RPMs back up to around 1950. I've also noticed this happens somewhere between 40-55 MPH. Okay, let the troubleshooting begin.

Sounds like this is happening right when the truck shifts into overdrive...speed/rpm readings seem to show this. Does this happen if you were parked and brought the rpm up to 1950 and then let it drop to 1100, or only under load on the road? How about if you were on flat ground and gently brought the truck up to speed, so it shifted into OD somewhere around 45 mph? Would you still get the shaking?

Does not happen when I am in park. Can rev it up to 3000 with no shake. The shake is more of a flutter, almost like a bogged down feeling. Still does it if I'm on flat ground but not as bad. Climbing is when it is most noticeable. Is this normal? When I started noticing it the SES light came on. I pulled codes and got p1211 and p1316. ICP sensor had oil leaking in it. Replaced ICP sensor, replaced UVCH on both sides, did 50 cent mod. Still having issue.

Now this is starting to sound more like turbo surge...you might want to do some reading about it (it is hard on the turbo). It can generally be prevented by getting and installing awicked wheel or an ATS housing.
Do you have AE? If so clear codes and take her for a ride, then check DTC codes again.
BTW, if it is turbo surge, you can just back off the throttle and it will go away.

Can I still get turbo surge without having my truck chipped? I had looked into getting the WW but I figured I would be ok until I got my tuner. I don't have AE. An awesome FTE member scanned my truck for me. He had to go out of his way to help me. I would love to have a scanner of my own but the wiring harnesses, ICP sensor, and a couple other things have got my truck budget a little low at the moment. I appriciate you all helping me out.

The only way I've been able to get it to stop is to give it more throttle. This causes it to smooth out. It smoothes out when I can get the RPMs up to around 2000.

By backing off the throttle, I meant don't drive up the grade as aggressively. Have you ever checked for boost leaks and what kind of boost pressure is the turbo making?

Oh I see what you're saying. No leaks, boost pressure is 18 psi.
Hmm... So whatever it was, replacing the ICP sensor has seemed to fix it. The SES light is off and it drives like a dream. Thank you all for your responses, for now... all is well.
