My work partner has a fuel leak in his 7.3, fuel is pooling in the rear of the valley and dripping onto the ground. He cannot see where the fuel is leaking from but says if he wiggles the hard line to the passenger side head he can hear it rattle against something. Anyone have a similar problem? where could I find a diagram of the fuel supply lines? Thanks, David
The hard line can rattle against a lot of things, that doesnt mean it's leaking. If it is in the valley it is probably the fuel drain valve (see video below)
The other option is the fuel line itself, less common, but not uncommon. There is a clip that can rub a hole in the fuel line. That is culprit 1, or if his luck is really bad, it could be the fitting in the block by the turbo. None of these are very expensive fixes, just time consuming the further back they go.
My fuel bowl just got deleted. I was driving one day and my little leak turned into a fuel shower. I lost a quarter tank in about 8 miles. I had been noticing the valley pooling fuel and am pretty sure it was the drain. The bowl has 4 places the fuel can leak. It could crack also. Maybe that line you mentioned has a hole where the clip holds it down.
Where the line goes through a bracket at the rear of the passenger side it can get rubbed through and leak. Pull the IC pipe and take a look if the the fuel bowl isn't leaking.
Well, I'll have to check #26 as shown in that diagram. I just put on an RR from Diesel Innovations and rebuilt my fuel bowl at the same time. I had this small leak before that work so I obviously missed something. Thanks for the pic Robin, I've saved it locally as well.
