so i have found fuel dripping from the front/ passenger side of the block. i looked all over and noticed after cleaning everything (the best i could) that my fuel bowl drain valve was leaking. i thought not a problem just took it off and put and re-sealed it. started it up and no more leak. i look on the passenger side again and it still seems to have a leak. could this just be reminisce of the previous leak? can you suggest another place to look for a leak? it collects right above the fuel drain tube.
thanks, chris
That is also the side of the fuel bowl that the supply lines to the heads come from. Do you have a way to clean, then dry that area and then get someone to turn the key on while you watch.
Also, the post filter port is on that side as well. It could be loose or need a new o-ring.
Check the fuel line clamp on the passenger side. It's been known to rub a hole in the fuel line. I installed a piece of rubber fuel line on mine some years ago.
Well if the topside is dry and clean and it is dripping down the front of the head and NOT out of the bowl drain tube. Then I would think it could be a banjo bolt O ring. But to get at it you would need to remove the ac mount bracket on the front of the head. Also there are 2 different style bolts so if leaking from there make sure you order the correct o ring because they are different. #15-018 Fuel End Plug / Banjo Bolt o-rings - Fuel System Parts & Filters - 1999-2003 Ford 7.3L
I just developed a fuel leak... this was most recent of many similar threads in search...
From under the truck it's driping wet by the starter, and the front of trans pan is wind swept wet
Looking at the drain valve I couldnt see an obvious drip but everything down there is dirty/greasy...
Thinking since it's cheap I should R&R just to rule it out.
What is the notorious clamp near on the pass side? Do i need to remove anything to see it?
Thanks
Fuel Line - Topside, Passenger Side - Whomever designed that should be shot!
Banjo Bolt
BTW: Standard "O" Rings will not last more than a few days because of the diesel fuel. The rubber will swell and break apart. Viton (I think that's the name) will last for years.
Here's a photo of that clamp. I don't know if the wet is from the fuel line or the intake.
I think that if it was the fuel line in the photo that you would get fuel in the valley and down the passenger rear of the block. It might be dripping out where the transmission meets the motor.

If you have or can borrow a smart phone:
Set your phone to take a photo on voice command. Take the connector off the back of the fuel filter to make access easier. Stick the phone down there (flash on - or auto flash) and point it towards the rear passenger side and command a few photos.
