No oil usage after 9,500 miles?

I have an oil bypass filter and use synthetic. I got 10,000 miles and test the oil.

Ever since I changed the oil 9,500 miles ago I have not had to add any oil. I have only had one result come back with 6.5% fuel. But that was it. In about 500 miles I will test like normal and see if I have any fuel dilution but I should not have any...

Do your trucks eat oil???

NO I dont eat oil yet

I know some auto will wear valve guides and create a Vac right there and burn alittle oil but this dont happen till 200,000mile or more on my gassers I changed oil every 3-4K but never had to add Oil

Who does your Oil Testing????
Something sounds Fishey with the High Fuel Delution that corrected itself or did you rering injectors or something????

Be careful Steve I think Extended Oil Changes are what Really HARD on the Lifter Bearings more than anything
Eat a Lifter and Its not worth the Oil Saved IMO

That's a long time on the oil for a 6.0.

I'm curious too who is testing the oil. I recommend Oil Analysts Inc. Not a big fan of Blackstone.

OK So What I would like to see is the oil viscosity test done by
a first rate lab and not by inferred results. To tell us just how
much of the oil has been sheared. Her is a bit of info on this.
Oil Viscosity - How It's Measured and Reported

I test mine at Blackstone.

I have never had any fuel turn up except that one time.
I had no injector work.

I have good results going 10,000 miles and have posted my results previously with good reviews.

Should I change who tests my oil?

Blackstone determines the fuel dilution from the flash point test. Not the most accurate way (but they insist it is fine). Many people have had "flyers" with Blackstone and fuel dilution like you describe. The most accurate way for a standard lab to get the fuel dilution is gas chromatography (three methods typically used: viscosity, flash point and gas chromatography).

The metals are done by ICP, so they are fine (as long as their technicians follow proper lab procedures).

CAT and Deere are high quality as well.

Some NAPA stores have UOA, not sure who they run their reports thru though.

I have used:
polaris
mrt labs
butler

They all seem fine. I know that Polaris uses GC for their fuel dilution. I believe that MRTLabs does also - just can't recall for sure.

Lol this was a test showed me by my granpa to tell whether your oil was used up.

Dip your thumb and forefinger in a sample of your oil. Touch your fingers together and then very slowly seperate. For the first couple of centimeters the oil should bridge across from finger to finger. If it don't your oil is too thin.

I always considered it more of a elasticity test myself but ya didn't argue with gramps but once.
