If you're using the Fumoto's for the oil drain plug and block drain plug replacements - why not just us the gasket that comes with the Fumoto's?

The block coolant drains have an o-ring. Not sure on part number.

That's what I was trying to figure out. I thought someone said use the o-ring for the oil drain plug but it was supposed to be for the block plugs. Thanks for clearing that up.

The gasket that comes on the Fumoto's is a flat seal made to seal oil drains. They weren't intended for the type of seal that the block plugs require which is why you install o-rings on them instead of a flat seal.

The o-ring size is: 1/8 inch thick and 5/8 inch inside diameter

Or just buy a block drain plug : 3Z3Z-6026-DA

I think you just saved me some serious heartache down the road. Was going to do my flush in a few weeks and install the Fumoto's to replace the block plugs and I probably wouldn't have given it a second thought! Thanks

I agree but have found even at hose shops, buying one large o-ring, specially if it is nitrile is $4-$5.

Can always try ACE hardware.

Why is everyone wanting an extra t-stat o-ring when a new one comes with one?

Guessing they are getting the T-stat at local parts store and reusing housing?

Anyone new coming to this thread please read the list on the first page as I am updating it as we come up with things to add. I believe at this point though we've about got it hammered out.

Bumping this back to the top! Hoping to finish this list up before I start on the truck! Anything else we may be missing?

Alright, so at this point I have 2 bottles of CLR (approximately 2 quarts), 12 gallons of distilled water (1 distilled water flush and 4 to mix with coolant), 4 gallons of Final Charge, 2 Fumoto drain valves, 2 Motorcraft block drain plug o-rings, and 1 Motorcraft thermostat with seal. The other stuff will come after I've got a fresh cooling system with new coolant in it as I'm not experiencing any issues at this point but will be doing it at preventative maintenance.

Is there anything else I'm missing as far as maintenance, upgrades, or updated parts?

I would install the coolant filter after the flush but before putting in the good stuff.

Good idea. I still think I'm gonna just do the inline filter going to the degas bottle as it will be cheap and effective. Has anyone used a fuel filter in that application or would you need a dedicate coolant filter?
