For the inline filter use an inline fuel filter with a mesh screen. Either metal or nylon that filters below 100 microns. A grain of sand is roughly (no pun intended) 100-150 microns.
Summit Racing has several for under $20 that filter under 40 microns.
I was thinking of just getting one of the metal Motorcraft fuel filters that used the two flared ends and splicing it into the degas bottle line. That way it's easily replaceable and I can source them readily.
Alright, from what I've seen there are a lot of guys that use the metal 3/8" inlet and outlet fuel filter from an F-150 for a coolant filter. It seems as though they are splicing it line between the radiator and de-gas bottle. Essential this is the same setup all the other bypass coolant filtration setups use.

Which filter? I wouldn't use a paper element with coolant.

Aren't those spin-on filters using a paper media? They look like it anyways. I wonder why the guys using the fuel filter aren't have any issues with it.

A coolant filter with paper media is designed for water and coolant. Not so sure a paper filter designed for gasoline would work too well.
