I just had lunch with the Simi Valley mayor. Pretty cool guy. We talked guy stuff like Top Gun and when he worked for an ambulance service back in the 60's before EMTs existed and when the mortuary used hearses as ambulances.

Color us home after a detour to Tucson.

I-10 to I-8 to CA-111 to I-10 to I-210 to CA-118 to I-405.

Then some surface streets......

Quite a detour, did you just feel like bypassing Phoenix?

No, I have a sister and brother-in-law in Marana.

The last night we spent on I-40 was Tuesday, in Chambers, AZ. It's the first "town" in AZ west of Gallup, and has three buildings, all of which we spent some money with (fuel, cafe, and motel). Wednesday morning we drove through the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest and then back up to Holbrook so we could get down to Payson to see Robin. He says hello in return, BTW.

From Payson we drove down past Roosevelt Lake and down to Globe-Miami/Florence Junction/Florence/Oracle Junction/Oro Valley/Marana.

Spent two days with them on our "detour".

But I almost always go around PHX by going south at Buckeye to Gila Bend.

Thanks, Sean. Are you home yet, or still in STL?

Hey Pop welcome home. How many miles did you add to the clock? Any pre-, mid-, or post- trip maintenance? Just curious since you have so many filters

A little over 4K added in the last two weeks.

Changed the engine oil and ALL the filters, just topping off the other fluids filtered.

Greased the needle and wheel bearings in the front hubs.

Checked the SCAs.

Changed the top hose to around-the-belt.

Re-built the alternator and also put the spare behind the rear seat.

Changed front pads.

Guess that's about all for the pre-trip stuff.

Added about a cup of 75W-140 in Tucson a couple of days ago, as I am now misting a light coating of gear oil over everything behind me. Pinion seal will need some addressing before another long trip, though it only needed a cup. I had bought two quarts and a hand pump because I didn't know what I was up against before I crawled under with tools and oil.
