I just smoothed out all the rough spots and opened them up some.

Then I checked the intake, it needs a LOT taken out to match up to the head.
Don't bother with porting the head at the gasket face and definitely don't take any material off the intake. Any mismatch that far away from the valve won't make a lick of difference in performance, especially with a relatively mild combo like you're considering.

I'll keep that in mind and not get too crazy with it.
As long as there are no ledges from the head ports sticking out in the downstream flow from the intake, no grinding is necessary and then only enough to remove the ledge.
Those ports look great. I did that to mine a few years back. Opened them up under the valve seat and smoothed them all to the manifold face. It did make a noticeable difference. Good luck with it.
