if the fuel injector control module is gone bad will my truck just stop going down the road...if just turns over now and wont fire but every once and a while but wont run...i thouht it was bad fuel but ive drained the fuel and everything...
That is certainly a possibility. The FICM (Fuel Injector Control Module) controls the actual firing of the injectors. Depending on the nature of the failure it could not start or just die. What makes you think it is the FICM, just because it is not fuel? Have you taken any reading Voltage (or used guagesto get voltage) KOEO.... If you are sure it is the FICM you can replace it, or repair it. There are some good repair sites. Ed at FICMRepair.com for example they are a lot cheaper than replacement but it is your call.
Yea when mine went out it did same thing, popped kicked tried to go here and there blew out black smoke then no smoke.
After I put another one in it smoked black as hell for a minute or so then ran better than it had for a while. Stopped sootin up rear fender too.lol
Good Luck with it, should check FICM voltage before you condem it though.
i just tested it and during buzz test and cranking it said 45-48...but a couple times it flashed 25 and go back and flash 25.68 and go back to 48..i read if it drops any then its bad
i found some online rebuilt for like 180..that sound pretty good there high new
I would go with a trusted source for an ficm rebuild or repair. Quite possible the place you found may be reliable source, but why take the risk when it will only cost you much more if it is not done right the 1st time
That's correct.... it needs to be rebuild by ficm.com. They are highly recommended by everyone here on FTE.
Actually, we're ficmrepair.com, but close enough.
Seriously, though, there is much more to getting the repairs on these right than meets the eye. We've taken care of LOADS of folks here on FTE and would be happy to take care of you as well.
