Good morning guys!
Watching the wildfires on the West Coast and the snow in Denver and other areas makes me feel glad all we have are hurricanes and heat and humidity to deal with.
Looks like we'll be heading out on our first camping trip in awhile on the 18th. Oldest grandson will be 20 on the 19th and he want's to make a trip before heading back out on the ship.
Hope things work out at the job Andre!
Like the color pics Gerry...thanks for posting.
Hope the fires keep away from your place Tim.
At least last year we were in Alaska enjoying some cooler weather!!

Only 40 miles from the house...a lot of locals camp here just for a weekend get away.
Lake End park in Morgan City
Cormorandt diving bird...taken with a 1200mm setting on my Canon.
Lots of moss covered cypress trees in this park.
Lake Palourde...sandy beach for the kids to play.
Park is usually packed on weekends.

Had to throw an extra blanket on bed last night. It was cold in the house
final total was 45 semis blown over by wind. A lot of northern Utah without power took my generator and chain saw over to my daughter Generator to keep her fridge going and chain saw to cut trees toppled in her yard

Afternoon all. We moved in out of the Wilds and are at an RV Resort south of San Antonio. There's a cloud burst going on at an inch a minute rain fall. Looking at the awning, I think we were transported magically in behind Niagara Falls. I wish I could magically move the rain back home to Oregon. We'll be leaving here, working our way back home this coming Monday.
Visit with the kids and grandkids including baby Clayton is going great! The older granddaughter and grandson are having a heck of a time with school. The distance learning stuff is just a bunch of bunk! They ran out of computers to issue the kids, so our two are using mom and dads, which interferes with moms work and college courses. Then to add to the problems, the school district doesn't have K-Rod set up correctly and he is unable to interact with his class. So he is unable to participate. His teacher is miffed and can't get him connected and the School Districts IS department seems to be in no big hurry to correct the problem. Not at all good.
Meanwhile back home it has gone to hell in a handbasket!
Kids and grandkids evacuated yesterday. Now I'm learning that my cousins place near Idahna Oregon is burned up.
I also learned late last night that my long term best friend (his brothers and him along with his wife went to school with my wife - and we did some military duty together - about 7 years worth) and long time hunting and fishing partner was evacuated from their home with 10 minutes notice on Sunday night. Their place is about 24 road miles and 17/18 miles as the bird flies from our place. I got a reply to my text earlier this morning and was finally able to get him on the phone a little bit ago.
He has not been able to return to his house yet, but his son (a Sgt. with Lincoln County S.O.) has told him he has learned from the incident command center that their house is gone.
It's a flipping mess. Information I'm seeing on the incident maps and the road closure maps is that we would have a very difficult time getting to our house now anyway. Only two routes are left open and they are way out of the way detours. One of those may not be passible due to winds for our pickup with the camper on it. If one of the forest fires jumps the ridge, the only other route will be closed.
What a mess. It's a good time not to be home...but a time when I feel we need to be home to help family and friends with evacuations. Between my sister and I and the Farm/Ranch we have 3 F250's 2 F350's two horse and stock trailers, utility trailers and a big stock truck we could be helping with. They are calling for help in evacuating 60 plus head of horses from the East Devils Lake area now. So frustratingly helpless.....
The ranch and our house should be safe...well the ranch at least. I just can't see the two fires jumping enough ridges to get to our house by the Yamhill River. There again, I would have never thought in a million years that Gary's house would have gone up just 17-18 miles from our house either.
Pictures my sister sent me from the farm/ranch last night....
