Stay safe gang. Sorry to see reports of fires, winds and various other issues affecting you directly or indirectly. We are finally getting much needed rains after 7 weeks with none. Over the last week, we have accumulated close to 4” through various showers. My yard and pasture are already turning green again. The horses are even happier about it than I am. I might have to break out the new orange mower again soon, after spending almost 4 weeks in the shed.

Good morning guys!

Happy 26th Anniversary to my bride!

UW-Madison quarantined two huge residence halls for 2 weeks last night. These halls are huge and we know kids in both of them. Owen and most of his friends are no in either, so that is good for the short term. Most parents are going to be finding out about the decision this morning. It's a $#!^ show for sure. I'm ready to go get Owen on a moment's notice. For now, we wait...

I prayed for rain and calm winds the extinguish the fires. I will continue to pray.

Morning all. Rained all night here on the South side of San Antonio. Still overcast with scattered showers.

Sister and BIL took two rigs, a horse trailer and a 20 foot utility trailer and helped get some friends, horses, cattle and goats evacuated down the mountain to another friends place. They made two trips before they were cut off and not allowed to go back for more. They were literally told to open the coral gates and the barn doors and let 'em loose to fend for themselves.
So, 20 minutes after they got the last load down to some other friends place, they were given unexpected, without warning evac orders from the new place. So horses, goats, (as many as possible) were loaded in the 9 rigs they had and off they went. They got the remaining horses and cattle in a "south pasture" which I guess is 20 acres of grass that she says has been pretty well grazed off, but the best chance of not being burned should the fire get there. They turned on the big circular irrigation system they have, but she said the well probably won't last more than a hour this time of year if they loose power to the pump at the creek. They are hoping the remaining stock will be good there as long as they don't stampede.
In the meantime our family farm and ranch livestock, horse, cattle and goat head count has grown exponentially after the arrival of the 9 rig caravan. Wish I could get some of this San Antonio rain to move up to home.

Our house, the farm and the ranch house should be perfectly safe. Smoke may be a problem for mother and a couple of the other visitors, but all should be good.

Surprised that little motor had enough horse power to turn that size tire!

Cool pics Gerry and Don! I hear you on the mail Don, but that thing likely had really low horse power. Tim and I are the same page...bet that engine had trouble spinning those monsters.

And those old rigs likely had 6.00+ gear ratios in them. They had to have in order to get them out of their own track with 40HP

Happy Anniversary Nitkowski's
I'm having the same thoughts as the rest of you, about the mail truck.
My grandpa said before the roads were brought up to grade, it was nothing but ruts and slop out here in the country.
I have all the storm mess cleaned up and its been raining for several days. I think were up to 7 or so inches.
My rain gauge got hit by a barn
We have soybeans almost ready to harvest when it dries out. Looks like a decent crop and the price is the best it's been in a few years. Guess I'll sell them out of the field.
Thanks for the prayers related to our areas hurricane like winds. it was needed and appreciated. I wasn't planning on working that hard this summer
Truck goes to the body shop on Monday. Can't wait for the dents to disappear.
3 years in a row now I have said I can't wait for this year to be over. I'm optimistic that 2021 will be worth remembering.

I was going to ask if you were gonna fix up the truck or leave the added character on it.
Good to hear bean prices are up some this year. My cousin had beans on his rental fields this year, he could use a break as well.
