IF any of you made a reservation at the Super 8 in WHITESBURG, please contact me as soon as possible. I had some relatives from out of state drop by unexpectantly yesterday. They quickly told me that the conditions in that motel were not optimal to say the least (mainly "non-smoking" rooms that smelled like a cigarette, etc). We may need to get your money back and get another motel if you're still planning on getting a room. I am sorry to mention this now after I put that motel in "the list" on the old thread, but I'd feel even worse if I kept my mouth shut and let you guys take your chances there.
Thanks for the heads up. We did have some tentative holds for that location but we cancelled it out with no problem. Don't feel bad about the mention on the list. Some hotels don't push the non-smoking thing like they should. We recently stayed at a Westin that had a bed bug problem. Our main focus is good times shootin' the bull at your place with others of the Ford persuasion and less about the hotel conditions. Frankly I would be up for camping but the misses reminds me of the 9 hour drive and the need for a bed at the end of the trail. As long as the misses can get a hot shower and no bed bugs at the hotel, we are good to go. We are looking forward to Truckstock 2012! Our RSVP will be coming shortly on the gmail side of life.
Just a note on this subject. I have run into the 'smoke smell' issue many times while traveling and have a suggestion for those folks worried about this.
Call the hotel/motel directly 2-3 days before your scheduled arrival and explain that you have a respiratory condition and the need for a totally smoke free room. Most folks are unaware of it but most hotel/motel and used car dealers have ozone generators on the property for smoke removal. By closing up the room and running the generator in it for 12 to 24 hours it will remove all scents of smoke in the room. Used car dealers and detailers also have them which is why used car dealers are able to sell so many 'smoke free' cars.

This what the motel operator told us she'd do but either they just didn't do it or they didn't do it long enough. I would guest running a unit for 12-24 hours would really eat into their profits, especially during the busy tourist and meeting seasons. They probably ran ours for a minimum amount of time, if at all. Just highly stress you have a respiratory condition and you need it clean.

I'll dig mine out and put a new filter in it and bring it along in case anybody needs to use it.
I'm sorry about the hotel thing guys. It honestly is a crap shoot, just like anywhere else. Some people say their room was great. Others say it was horrible...... I HATE for those of you who prefer a hotel to have to drive to Hazard. Who knows--the two hotels in Whitesburg may be great. It's just hard to tell. The two absolute best hotels in Hazard are the Hampton Inn and the Mountain Inn and Suites. But they obviously cost more.
I worked with my F-1 all weekend long. Hauled all kinds of stuff. At 9:00 tonight, the dang thing wouldn't start at all. Lost all fire. I had to pull it up into my shop with my ATV. Always something.
Every time someone mentions Hazard, KY I keep hearing Waylon and envisioning an orange '70 Charger making a jump.
Back during the heyday of that show, the cast (including the General Lee) would come to Hazard every fall and go through the Black Gold Festival Parade. They're spelled differently (Hazard, KY vs. make-believe Hazzard County, Georgia).

Man, I feel your pain. It seems like every time I fix one thing on the F-2 either I find some other problem or I just have to wait a day and the problem will find me.
This has happened to me on both trucks, the wire between the coil and the points broke. The trucks ran great one minute, parked them and wouldn't start. No spark at all. A fairly easy fix.

My points closed too tightly. I re-set it and it fired right up.
Luckily, the weather is changing some from the absolute oven we had in July. Hopefully it will be nice next month.
Well...I keep wondering where the money is gonna come from, but Nicolle keeps saying we are going! I am really tossed between money for truck or money for trip????
But I think, more than anything, this trip will help put this whole truck thing into way more than just a device for cruise-ins. I really never imagined ever becoming a regular part of a forum. But here I am...
I rode my motorcycle to work last monday. Had too be at the office at 5:00 am....I was freezing ! it was like 55 degrees! I couldn't even pretend it didn't bother me! It's been freakin 90+ all summer! The windows are open the fans are blowing fresh cool air! And the electric company can my...
