The weather is getting nice here. Warm during the days, cooler in the evenings. I worked in my shop last night until 11:30 with both doors up, and it was very nice. The hurricane kind of bogged down in the South and didn't go as fast to the North, so we're gonna get a pretty good soaking this weekend. My neighbor is scheduled to have an outdoor wedding tomorrow--that's not gonna be good. I'm gonna have to wait until next week to cut and bale my hay because of the rain.
Doc
Hope you can get some hay baled. Here (SW Missouri) we are in a extreme drought. 5x5 bales are running 80 to $100 if you can find them for just grass/fescue hay.
My pastures are burned up and people with livestock are already feeding hay or being forced to sell them.
Craigslist is full of people wanting to give horses away since they have no pasture for them. Water is also a issue since most ponds have dried up. We are over 24 inches below normal for rain this year.

Wow! Maybe we need to take my hay back toward your house and sell it. I have a Vermeer Rebel baler with the capability of baling 4x5 foot bales. I usually just bale 4x4 bales because the vast majority of the people I sell those bales to don't have a tractor, and they can manhandle the 4x4's whereas the 4x5's are harder to move. I had a Hesston 740 baler when I first started. Sorriest POS thing I've ever owned. I spent more time under it working on it than I did using it. I only have about 25 or 30 acres to cut and bale--peanuts compared to you other guys. When I first bought that place, I used a 7 foot sickle bar that the previous owner had. Took 2 plus days to cut the whole farm. Now I cut it in about 5 or 6 hours with my disc mower.
Edit: I just checked craigslist here. 4x4 rolls are still going for only about $25 each here. Sometimes I hate dealing with that stuff. The same people who say "I'll be there to buy some" while it's warm in August or September are the ones who call you on a Saturday morning in January when it's 10 degrees outside and say "I couldn't get down there back in the summer, do you still have any hay for sale?"
i have not read all nine pages of this thread but it sounds like you guys are gonna have a blast. maybe someone has already mentioned it but i hope everyone has a good fire extinguisher and a fast and easy way to disconnect the battery. years ago i had a fire under the dash of the big red 60, unloaded the extinguisher under the dash and under hood, then found out it was a unfused wire that had shorted out. it was zip tied into the harness and all the insulation was burning. i couldnt get the fire out until i disconnected the battery. maybe i was scared or the cable was loose but i got it off with my bare hand, then got the fire out. believe me, when you are re-wiring your truck and cleaning out the caustic powder you will have plenty of time to figure out what you SHOULD have checked or done. have fun and have a safe trip guys! wish i could go.

It's funny you mention that, because I'm having a little wiring issue right now that I haven't had time to track down. I hope I'll be able to fix it before Truckstock or I may be the one on the side of the road with a fire extinguisher!

Maybe I'll grab a couple of bales from my kid and barter it for some gas on the way down. It's at $4 a gal here and going up.
Drill baby, drill, oh sorry, I'll have to wait until after November for that to happen.

Amen, Brother!
I heard on the radio the other day that a local electric company (not mine however) is cutting their electric rates by 4%. This is due to the fact that they are using more natural gas for their generation of electricity. And we here in North Central PA have a lot of gas in the Marcellus Shale. I am an all of the above type person for energy: oil, gas, coal, and of course wind and solar if it is viable on its own, all domestic of course, and off shore as well...
Hey y'all! (See Doc I'm fixin' to git ready). Been busy again so that usually means bed before FTE. Hard to believe but true. I'm excited about this event like no other and am still planning on being there. There just aren't many of these trucks in my area so just seeing a few and hopefully getting a ride or two is going to be worth it for me. Talking about and learning about the trucks is high on my list as well. Hopefully next year my F3 will be ready to attend something out there. My plan is to leave Thursday night and go to Indy to stay with my sister and family. I'll then get up early Friday and hopefully arrive at the Truckstock grounds mid-day. I might be sleeping in my car or maybe in the back of Bob's truck but I'll be there! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

x2 - Couldn't have said it better myself. Glad I wont be the only guy sleeping in a car to save a few bucks.
Just bought my paint this morning, but gonna wait to talk about it with everyone before laying it down instead of rushing it to try to make it to the event. (which is not realistic with my other obligations)
Looks like the rain won't be bad for us Doc, but if you need a hand next weekend I may be able to make it down for a day trip.
Over night sleeping in the back of my truck--$5/night
Being with a bunch of like minded, sick, truck obsessed truck people--PRICELESS
Let's see... I'll want at least three truck rides and two nights in the F2
Bed & Breakfast... I'll just give you $20 Bob and we'll call it even. I think you're spot on about "Priceless".

Rob, would you mind if I got you a roomie? With the price of gas going up I'll probably have to think up some creative ways to help me afford the trip. I could also rent out the cover over the bed and the cab seat. Hummm.... I think I just might have the trip paid for
