P1271 and P1316 codes

P1271 and P1316 codes
1999 7.3 85,000 miles starting running rough and ses light came on. Cleared up a couple of times but now is constant. Bought Auto Enginuity with ford enhance bundle from Riff Raff diesel (great price and FAST shipping). Have code P1271 high to low side open and code P1316 injector drive module code detected. When I do buzz test I get cylinder 1 high to low side open. When I do cylinder contribution test I get P0263 cylinder 1fault and p0284 cylinder 8 fault. From the posts here I am thinking I have a bad connection in the connector under the passenger side valve cover (need to do 50cent mod). Does the p0284 code mean maybe I am losing connection to cylinder 8 but maybe it has just not failed completely?
Do you think I am on the right track?

with gray CPS p0284 is a ghost code. if you can do a injector buzz test i would go ahead and do that. youre gonna notice a code from buzz testing . after you replace the harness do a buzz test again to confirm the harness was the problem. when you do the buzz test the first time ur gonna see that cyclinder #1 is gonna set a code. once you completed the harness repair do not fully close up the valve cover plug all the conectors in and clear all codes in the ecm and idm and then do the buzz test. afterwards you should see that the buzz test sets no codes. if no codes are present go ahead and close it up.
also while doing a buzz test listen carefully to the sounds of each injector you can hear if you have one on the way out .
