Plugged the shops Modulus Snap-on scanner into my truck today and found a few codes as i was searching around. While doing a buzz test i got P1298 IDM Fault, Then when doing a cylinder contribution test i got a P0196 EOT sensor range/perform. And then while doing a key on engine off self test i got a P0605 Internal control module ROM error. What do these mean?
the 196 is normal for what you attempted, all it means is that when you attempted to do a cylinder contribution test the engine oil was below 170*f. get the truck hot before you reun the test, you may have to take it out and run it hard for a few miles then test it.
the other 2 i cant recall off the top of my head, i would have to look them up, if memory serves me the 1298 means that some form of injector code is stored in the memory but its usually accompanied by another code.
1298 is an internal IDM fault. The code joe is thinking of is 1356. My truck came up with that code as well ( i understand some modded IDM's will throw that code) BUT my truck ran fine. I had another IDM so I modded it and put it in. The one that threw the code is now my spare behind the seat.
