Hi, researched this fault code thoroughly, know it stored in idm etc. The truck has 270K miles on it and all I've replaced was 2 alternators and brakes. So I went ahead and installed new valve cover/wiring harness assy's, new idm, new glow plugs (while I had covers off) . Per IDM manufacturer I did a pin out ohm test on connector plug prior to plugging in new one and all checked out open when it should be and 3 ohms everywhere it should be. On one wiring harness I did find a pin that had the plastic partially melted around it thinking I had found the problem, but I did the pin out test after replacing gaskets. Test drove truck runs better but still not right. Starts out nice and smooth but up a hill or when it shifts up as I collect speed it misses and runs rough. Cleared the code repeatedly and it comes back. Have I overlooked a sensor or something? Thanks Charlie/2001 ford Excursion 7.3
when i was removing everything to get to the valve cover harness. I found a couple wires from the main harness, on top of the valve cover had rubbed through. might check for that
but your problem sounds like fuel delivery, or its not firing properly.....let us know what you find....good luck
I had watched that video along with alot of others but all my connectors and wiring are new and I tested all pins=ok but thanks for the tip, I sure did think that was it too
The code 1316 is only a code that says the IDM has stored codes, is that the only code you are getting? Other codes will cause a 1316 such as injector codes. Many scan tools you need to run either a Buzz test or KOEO self test to retrieve the stored codes.
Hi, yes that is the only code I'm getting and I would ignore except the truck is running with all the symptoms described as caused by faulty vc wiring, idm issues. Does these mean my only choice is to go to a repair shop and have them pull those codes with something more than my 100.00 code reader?
