Considering 05+ headlight conversion, H13 bulbs no good?

Hey guys,
I was thinking about this kit from headlightdepot.com:

SUPER DUTY 05-07 CHROME SET WITH PNP CONVERSION HARNESS at HeadlightsDepot.com | Top Quality Headlights at Affordable Prices

Then I caught a few rumblings about H13 bulbs that are used 2005+ are no good - contacts weak, cause heat and melting in the connector.

Is this a big deal or not? Just curious ... really like the 05+ headlights so I'd like to do the swap but not if I'm opening another can o worms...

Cool ... do you like the light pattern better than previous?

Yes much so.

Before I had the 2002+ "crystal" lenses and I was running XENON bulbs from HELLA. They were brighter and whiter than stock.

Now I am running 2005+ lenses and stock bulbs, and I STILL noticed a difference. So I cant even imagine what a stock to stock bulb change would be like! I cant wait to go to some non-stock bulbs on these lenses, but for now the stockers will work. I have no desire to go to HIDs.

Wow that's really great to hear. I originally had ordered an 02-04 upgrade kit but I saw the 05 kit wasn't much more and really like that look... so I just ordered the 05 kit and will return the other. I could use better lighting too!

I did the conversion from 03 - 06. I honestly have to say that it is a horse apiece, the 06 headlights seem about the same as my 03's.

The "fog lights on with high beams" mod helps quite a bit IMO for light with high beams. I also added some driving lights that I will have come on with just the high beams to help with light. Had the same setup on my old 96 F250 and loved it!

If you REALLY want light, wire up a "bright box" set up. It activates Hi, Low, and Fog beams. That is the ticket right there. You can try a free sample by pulling back on the manual "flash" high beams. This will keep the low and fogs on too.

I think low and highs on for long periods in the single glass capsule would be way to much heat. Chevys can do it with separate lights but the single bulb with two filaments I think wouldn't take the heat.

Personally I opt for the second set of driving lights.

Great info ya'll. I'm in the midst of a bunch of mods and forgot to mention I'm adding a fog / driving light combo (hella 2020). Truck didn't come with fogs so I thought I'd add these and see how they work out.
