05-07 headlight conversion

hey guys i was wondering how hard is it to swap the 05 headlights with an 04 truck is there alot of modification or is it simply plug and play?, i also found a pair of headlights on ebay that look just like 05 headlights but have LED's in the middle and are bolt on for the 04 (Ford Excursion/F250/F350 1 Piece LED Crystal Headlight - eBay (item 320629573910 end time Jan-10-11 02:34:50 PST)) im not sure which to go with if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

The SWAP is pretty easy. The housing just bolts into your truck. However, if I recall, the bulbs are different so you would need the different plugs for the bulb. One thing you might want to consider is doing a HID upgrade along with changing the lights. I wasn't sure on the HID upgrade, but a buddy talked me into it and it is one of the best upgreades I have done to my truck as far as enjoyment of the truck. My truck is not my #1 vehicle to drive at night. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I definitly want to do an HID upgrade ive been looking into that I thought the bulbs were still 9007 though, also what do you think of those after market lights I posted in the ebay link earlier? Their 05 headlights with LEDs in the middle

I could be mistaken on the bulb number of the 05 - 07, but I just thought they were different for some reason. I didn't use the stock bulbs as I did the HID change over when doing the new headlights.

As for the housings, I think they look good and would look good in the truck, however I have heard that people have had lots of problems with the cheaper headlights leaking and fogging up. I am not sure if these are one of the ones people have had problems with, but I would just be cautious. I know some have bought some sealant and re-sealed the new housings before installation. If I had a choice between OEM and aftermarket, I would take the OEM. Just my 2 cents.

how hard of a swap would this be on an 03 XL with factory sealed beam halogen headlights?
ive been really wanting to do HID bulbs but if its going to be a huge hassle, i may just tough it out.

i would also be upgrading the grille to the 05-07 style as well

I am not sure about the 03 sealed bean conversion. I don't know anything about the design of that front. I would assume it should be easy, but I can't say.

As for mine, mine came from a 2006 truck that was rolled. My truck has the full front clip conversion, so there was no modifying anything to make the items work. You should be able to find the OEM ones on ebay, a junk yard, or even online at some websites. I have seen people selling OEM conversion kits, but they were a bit pricey.
