Trying to mod my '02 following the directions given with the green/black wire. My truck was built 09/01...and...the wire on pin 13 is black instead of green/black. I ohmed the wire, and it is a constant ground in no matter what position the light and left stalk switches are in. Has anybody done the mod with the black wire application?
I thought I should mention my 'Fog Lights ON with High Beams' mod just incase there are any other Fellows here that may have brought thier truck to Canaduh from the US and are wondering if this mod will work on thier Truck.
The reason for my input on this topic is because when my Truck was inspected before bringing it to Canaduh they installed 'DRL' in it to bring it upto Canadian regulations specs.
I followed the instructions as per 'Light Green with Black Tracer' and ((( IT WORKS ))). So far so good,,, I have not seen or SMELLED any problems with the mod...

I am wondering where and how they installed the DRL? I forgot to ask about it when the work was being done. I did find a fuse in the #14 location which does control the DRL. I tested it by removong the fuse and the DRL's turn off which is kind of nice to be able to do. Now I have the fuse out and can drive with no DRL's and the Fog Lights with High Beams mod still work. But,,, the last thing I need is a ticket for no DRL. The truck does kind of stand out in traffic so I will be popping the DRL fuse back in in the morning just incase I get the local officer that doesn't appreciate the off road enthusiast community and decides he or she is going to give my Truck the 101 point "is this thing legal" road side inspection.
Anyon done this to a 03? I have been wanting to, but am afraid that it will get too hot and I will burn up my truck. Anyone notice anything getting hot(fusebox, wiring, headlight/fog light housing)? Please tell me that this is OK, because I want to go this so bad!

Did you read through this thread at all? Tons of people have done it without problems. If you take a minute to read it and understand how it works you will see that it is both simple and safe done properly.
I just got done and all I can say is wow! This is a must do mod. Why did ford not do this? And thanks to who ever spent the time looking at the diagram and figuring this out.

Your welcome. Ford did not do this because technically is is not legal, fogs are supposed to go off with the high beams.

Just so you know, at least in New York, the fog lights are "dazzling lights" and are technically illegal with the LOW beams. They're legal with the high beams. The reason for the auto on with the low beams is so that when used in the fog [hence the name] they're used in conjunction with the low beam rather than the high beam that will reflect back at the driver.

I guess if we really want to get technical there not fog lights at all, there driving lights due to the fact that they are white and not yellow. I think that most if not all manufactures make them on with low and off with highbeams. I don't know if it's a state law or federal (I'm guessing federal).
If it were illegal in NY, how can any stock vehicle pass inspection.
By the way, howdy neighbor, I am just across the Bridge (assuming your in the city)

They're fog lights because of the way they disperse the light. Manufacturers may install them because, again technically, they may and should be turned off when there's on-coming traffic or a vehicle ahead of you travelling in the same direction. They're only to be used with no body in front of you.
I don't know anyone who's given/gotten a ticket for it though. If you had KC Dayliters turned on, it would be a different story.

Howdy right back at ya. We're on the same side of the river, just off by a city or two...
So I had a previously drilled hole in my dash board from a bad attempt at hooking up a PIE... so I took a SPDT switch and hooked this to it. I leave it up, and I can have the brights/fogs on at once. I push it down, brights kill the fogs. Yeah, I know it's horribly redundant and I can just push the button in when I pull my brights to kill the fogs, but I had the switch... and the hole in the dash.... and I got nothing better to put there. Hopefully I can find something actually needing a switch to put in instead.

My stock fog lights are aimed lower than the low beams. In doing so, they are GREAT for driving in heavy fog, because they light up the lines on the road right in front of you, so you can at least crawl and not wind up in the weeds
I don't think it's legal, or some such nonsense, for them to come on with the high beams. I don't know why.
