i think its cool when people put the big(like 17") chrome wheels on there cars, lotsofchrome is always good!! If it makes them look great them i'm all for it, i think the tricked out celica's and such look real cool, now.... if they spend there money on eng. mods, i think that is a waste of money, but im not one to talk, ive wasted plenty of money in my life... they are doing what they like and not doing any harm.... Now if there driving like idiots, than they are idiots, but idiot drivers can be found in all shaps and forms. . not just in ricers.....
just my 2 cents

The things I don't like about ricers are when they put the big rear wings on them and then think they are the fastest on the road, and when they put those nasty sounding fart pipes on them with a 4 inch tip that narrows down to 2 inches in plain sight! However, I don't mind the 'true' ricers. The ones that really do supe up their cars like in the movie. I don't think this is much different than how my Dad and friends dreamed about things they could do to their cars in the 60's and 70's.
Personally I agree a lot with nothingbutford.
I consider myself a car/truck guy and by that, I mean that I'm into all kinds of cars and trucks. I keep up on what going on in all the custom car/truck scenes because i'm into cars/trucks and what people do to them to make them their own.
As for ricers, I say why not let them do their thing. Many of the cars that i see at shows and stuff i think look pretty cool and they come up with interesting ways of doing things to them.
Of course even though i keep myself open-minded when it comes to cars it doesn't mean that i agree with everything people do to their cars. Sure guys can try to pimp out their civics, integras,etc... and then rev their engines at stop lights and then get blown away by me in my Bronco, but hey they're having fun with their cars like we are with our trucks.
Not every import i would even consider as a "ricer". Sure the guy in his civic with a body kit and fart pipe is a "ricer" because no matter what you do to a civic or similar car it won't be that fast. The guys driving truly fast imports i wouldn't really consider "ricers" unless of course they do a lot of "tacky" things to their cars. The guys i'm talking about are the guys driving turbo supras, eclipse's, and cars like that. The silver car with blue graphics in the 2 Fast 2 Furious movie is a Nissan Skyline and these cars stock are fast as hell. Of course they only sell them in Japan(although you could get them in the states...). Guys driving cars like that put money into their engines and are really fast. If you go to a dragstrip, like Englishtown here in NJ, you'll see that the strip seperates the "ricers" from the big guys who aren't.
As for me I'm a Ford Guy and even though i think what some people do to imports is cool I would much rather be driving a FORD, but hey to each his own.
MY $0.02
Sure, some of these foreign cars are impressive, but they're not the ones your seeing on the road all day. Anything fast is cool in my opinion, but the vast majority of these clowns are driving joke cars that can't keep up with anyone. It's more the attitude of the drivers than the cars themselves that gets me. Also, the fast ones, like the Evo, aren't $3000 cars with coffee cans. A for example, that 2.0 may be fast, but it's almost at peak potential. Get and 5.7 Camaro and put a supercharger and hot cam in it, and it'll be doubleing the power of even the Evo or WRX (and the WRX isn't a ricer in my opinion, it's a just plain a nice car). Anyway, if you don't like the chump with the sideways hat blaring lousy music and lying about his car, then I'm with you. Check out ricecop.com. You can order tickets, makes for a fun afternoon if you've got the time.
the black car at the end of the Fast and the Furious was a 69 Dodge Charger with a 900+ HP Blown Hemi. Now THAT is real American muscle. it wasnt a Challenger or a Nova.
I hate ricers too. They take an already slow car and make it even slower. What is the purpose of a spoiler on a front wheel drive car? Why do they run the smallest engines offered? Why do they put mone into something they won't get it back out of? Answer those questions for yourselves, I laugh when I get to thinking about it. I've only took 2 cars on in my truck. Well, actually only one of them was a car. One was a Z71 (I whooped him, that truck now sits in a junkyard, totaled), the other was a Honda Accord all riced out. It was loaded up with stickers and a spoiler and a body kit, and the all-essential fart can muffler. I was sitting at a stoplight, this kid pulls up and I look down at him, he revved it up and you could hear his weedeater engine near-bout blow up. The light turned green and I laid the pedal to the metal. I left that sucker at the light, and he turned off to avoid getting embarrassed, which by that time was obvious. I told myself, after that night, I won't doing that no more in the '95, cause then I knew the on-road capabilities of my truck. Now, once that '84 is going good, I might have to play around with it a time or so to see what it's capable of.
Originally posted by MatthewJ About 30 miles away from Westminster, is Hanover PA. There is a two mile strecth of road called Eisenhower Drive that is the ricers playground. There is about 1 girl to every 3 guys. The cops don't even run radar after 11pm, b/c the regular traffic is off the road and its just racers. There are american cars too, but not as many. My friend and I used to tear 'em up in his Camaro. Now, I can't wait to get my truck done to show them how to really mod a vehicle.
BTW, another 18 year old for domestics
Hanover? I thought we had the majority of them in Lancaster.
mrwizard, thats what they said in the movie.... hmmm...
gets you thinking doesn't it?
It could have the 900+hp but then again its just a movie and not just a movie, its a load of crap that movie is

and another thing..
I dont think these ricers understand how easily one of us could demolish one of them without even hurting our vehicles. Just no respect. Everyone thats a ricer at my school always says that if american cars are so great then lets race. I always got to tell em that my truck aint for racing, its for towing and off roading, but no they dont listen and brag when they beat me. Cmon, Ive got a 4 speed and one of those gears is a granny gear, I aint gonna win a race against anyone. I now want to change my gearing though just so I can beat them and laugh in there faces. Oh well. Thanks for clearing up what car it was at the end of the movie, thats what I thought but I second guessed myself. That was bad when it got destroyed. Hey, my friends keep telling me that the charger was using all NOS and the ricer going against it wasnt even going all out. From what I remember, the charger killed the ricer until it got demolished.
BobbyL, I know where your coming from but thats not really the same now as it was then. These guys arent even racing real cars. At least back in the 50's and 60's those guys were driving real cars, american made muscle. The guys now are just possers, they are trying to be something there not. Thats just my opinion though. I guess thats enough about ricers FOR NOW.
Trucks and Muscle Cars RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could care less about a ricer, as I will always prefer a truck, but I wouldn't be surprized if my son got into them in 10 years or so. [/B][/QUOTE]
Well, that is one thing I am not worried about. In about 10 years, al these new 'ricers' will have either been run over by a truck or fallen about due to lousy building practices and materials...and my 71 stang will still be there running and driving just like the day it was new. And so will my truck, actually, my truck should be running better than he day it was new by then, And I willl make sure my future son(s) know this and get into older cars. I am not going to force it on them they will be able to choose, but I will try to point out all thereasons for having an older car (especially the safe, all metal model and what it does compared to fiberglass)

You old "farts" who were around in the prime of muscle car days, what size exhaust "tips" were you using? It seems a common trend on mustangs / camaros around here (mostly stangs) to put these 1.5' long 4" pipes on the ends of their exhausts.
Chevelles/novas as well. On the big A bodys it doesn't look AS bad but I am not a fan.
I think the single exhaust that was extended out of this "old fart" from the integra club had was better looking (3" stainless, not welded on tip part of the actual system...and he had a turbo'd teg so he had use of a 3" exhaust) anyway my point.
Their is some fugly stuff people do to domestics. Just more fugly stuff to imports.
A friend at my work just put neon undercarriage lights on her 1996 grand am
It's all disgusting, but the more ugly things people do the easier it is to look good.
Oh and I owned my acura for almost 1.5 years. I sold it just over a week ago.
you bought your flowmaster to give the truck a true sound of a muscle car, not the sound of a amped lawnmower engine
your exhaust probably just doesn't have a tip that is like 5" big and then go all the way down to 1.5"
ricers tend to say that if you get a tip your HP will increase. (thats not true as you all would know). they all think that if you get a tip even if they use there stock pipes and just add the tip you will get power!
Now my family has a history in Drag racing. I was talking to a guy the other day in autozone that said that he was the first to bring street racing to this area. I looked at the other guys in the shop and we all started laughing. We go street racing huh, what 4 civics and a cavalier passing each other in town. He said no, we race down the street and have 6 cars. Again we all laugh. I asked him how old he was, he was only 19. So I said, hmm what born in about 83, well my dad was drag racing on Rt. 11 in 1967. So he said that's not real racing that's short distances. SO another guy said hey stupid do you know how long a 1/4 of a mile is, it's not as long as in the movies. And then he said well there wasn't that many that raced back then, we laughed again, i told him that every sat. night my dad and his friends would have 40-70 cars from 3 states lined up to drag. He simply gave me a look and said well it's not the same and walked out. I never get tired of going to autozone it is just to easy to mess with the rice boys.
Oh and isn't the point of drag racing having a sleeper vehicle and not advertizing what you have under the hood? Cuz my dad had a 1969 Olds Cutlass S W-30 with a BB 350, 350hp, 400tq., and had purple hornies and a shine that blinds, and the insurance said it was a family car, haha.
