What cools your engine?
is there a gap between the rad support and radiator?
is there a gap between the radiator and the underside of the grill?
try blocking those areas to make all air going into the grill go through the radiator.

I took a pressure tester.

And pressure tested...

And lo and behold---there are no leaks, so I guess that rules out a blown head gasket.
Here's whats odd, I drove it home from the shop 5-6 miles, and it stayed 160 the whole way. When I parked it it climbed to 175-180 gradually, which is fine with me. It was 72 tonight so maybe that's why it didn't over heat, then again I didn't run it far either...
Here is a detail I did forget to add. It always diesels when I kill it, even when I throw it in gear it will diesel on. I actually have to turn the fuel pump off and let it run out of gas. I talked to a fellow today that said that's a tell tell sign that it needs higher octane. He didn't think that would cause it to massively overheat though, but I guess if could contribute. I guess maybe the summer blend of gas is worse than the winter, that's just a speculation though.

If you have it timed down to almost 0 and can't figure why your truck is running crappy like it is, then it's time you pulled your wallet out and paid someone to fix your issues because you have not legitimate reason to have a wrench in your hand. Don't mean to sound harsh, but how many times do we have to tell you initial timing for a stock 460 is 12-14 degrees below tdc? Quit trying to see if you can make it run with the timing set above tdc.
Ok maybe I shouldn't have a wrench in my hand. I've set it to 12 initial which is too much for 87 octane so I backed it off to 8 to run the tank of gas out but it still overheated and pinged, so thinking maybe that the balancer had bad markings or something I timed it down further. And while I can't here pinging it still slowly heats up. I gonna fill it up with premium then time back up to 12 degrees and hopefully 30* total timing.
Check your settings on your carb. Air fuel mixture screws. I rebuilt a carb for my Buick once and it ran hot and ran on with key off. I had the air fuel screws set wrong. Easy thing to check and try. i hope this helps.
Have u done a plug check at all?
After a conversation with Kris about my pos, he was thinking fuel pump wasn't keeping up causing a lean burn. Well, a foot to the floor run from a dead stop pulling the camper proved he was right. Half way through second gear, spit n sputter.
Put a high flow pump on, haven't tested it yet tho.

I checked the plugs with the old carb and it was super rich. The new carb leaves the plugs with a tinge of color, I haven't checked after a high speed run but I can't shut it off from a high rpm because it will diesel on.
I do have a high flow Holley furl pump though, so delivery isn't an issue.

It isn't timing, the timing is now perfectly set to 10* initial 30 total. I have it running on 93 octane now, there is not much of a change in temperature, it still gets hot idling at 75* outside.
I get your point A/O. I'm at the end of ideas on my part if you were having this problem, what would you check?
This is where I'm at 10* initial 30* total.
The carburetor came off of a truck with a 460 that ran perfectly so I would assume that would eliminate that variable, plus the plugs back me up as far as I can tell.
Now this is just where I am, maybe not where I need to be. So if you have any questions about the motors tuning, ask me, maybe we can come up with something.
I'm sorry to beat this subject to death but I really value talks opinion that's why I have been trying everything y'all have told me.
